Lyle: Dr. Flora Stay who is a formulator of both oral and personal care products. You have a company, you formulate products, you have the manufactured.
How are you sure that those products are what you are asking for and they meet your standards before you sell to the public.
Flora: That’s a very good question; in my particular situation I oversee every single ingredient. Normally what happens Lyle, is that they are basic formulas that most companies used. As the base of – let us say skin care, hair care because every personal care product needs certain ingredients to make it function.
So that it has the creamy consistency, it has the for subbing, you know foaming consistency. Whatever part of their looking for? Shelf life and most companies take those basic formulas and they might add one or two things.
Literally for myself and some of the other companies that are really focused on brining about safe products to consumers. We have to pretty much re-invent the wheel. We have to supervise, look for data base after data base, so that every single ingredient we use is safe. It doesn’t have any potential allergen, carcinogen any other potentially toxic or harmful ingredient.
And especially if they’re made in other countries like China or India or Mexico or other countries where there quality control standards don’t meet ours.
Lyle: For they hype certain things that really aren’t natural.
Flora: That’s right, so there two things going on in the US our quality controls standards are very high as far as cleanliness and that type of thing. But unfortunately the FDA does not assess for safety a lot of the ingredients.
Other countries – both of those factors, so personally again I have to make sure that every product that I formulate. The ingredients that we’re using are exactly those ingredients that I have requested. And again that had to work – I had to work with a team of scientist, bio chemist to make sure that the ingredients are safe, very effective. And then the quality control standards are high and that’s by making every product made in the USA.
