Evolving from a simple action figure, the Transformers franchise can boast a concept so creative and complex it has proved capable of producing several successful toy lines, TV shows not to mention blockbuster films. Hey welcome to watchmojo.com I’m your host Derrick Allen and today we will try to better understand the Transformers universe.
The premise for the Transformers story line is based primarily on a war that has been waging for eons on an alien planet called Cybertron. The two war in factions are made of the Autobots, the franchisers’ name for antagonist and the Decepticons. Millions of years into Cybertron’s civil war, Optimus Prime had planned a mission to seek new energy reserves outside of Cybertron.
However, in an attempt to gain an advantage Megatron, leader of the Decepticons carried out an attack on the Autobot’s spaceship. The ensuing space battle would eventually draw the ship off course and into the gravitational pull of a prehistoric Earth. Crashing into a volcano, all of the Transformers would lay dormant for four million years.
Upon eruption of the volcano in 1984, the ship’s computer Telatraan-1, was re-awakened and after witnessing Earth’s forms would give all the Transformers new models that allowed them to better blend in on Earth. Because Telatraan-1 did not recognize carbon life, it would give them the ability to transform into trucks, cars, and jets among other mechanical objects.
And now with Earth as the backdrop, the Transformers began what is referred to as the great war. The Decepticons aimed to drain the Earth of its resources in order to convert into Energon, the primary source of power for Transformers. The Autobots however, were committed to stopping the Decepticons and protecting the human race.
