The Guitar Center started in 1959, it was owned a guy name Wayne Mitchell and we started literally right down the street here where Ross’—and they call it rock and roll Ross for a reason—and it was originally the organ center. Eventually, we took on alliance Fender, Gibson, Roger’s Drums and we became a full line music store and we wanted to honor some of the greats in music.
The original idea was to have hand prints in cement up and down Sunset Boulevard, very similar to the walk of fame line on Hollywood Boulevard.
The music store is really the hub of the music community. It is the place where you go and you can meet other people and connect. Jimmy Hendrix bought guitars here. Jimmy Page bought guitars here. It goes on and on and on.
This is a fun place. I get up in the morning and I am going to go to work and I am going to meet people with a dream, people with a destiny. We are going to give a chance to answer their questions and help them along and maybe mentor a little bit.
