Michaela Coman: So you’ve decided to get a new tattoo. Maybe this is your first, so you’re unfamiliar with the process. Welcome to Watchmojo.com, I’m your host Michaela Coman. And today, I’ll be speaking through Richard who’s the owner of tattoo shop called Slick Styled Steel.
So do you have any advice on taking a tattoo shop?
Richard: Make it sure it’s clean, reputable. When you come in, you sit down, you look at the portfolios, and usually there would be at least three, four depending on how many the shop has and you just pick the book that you like the best.
Michaela Coman: What are the things that people should know before getting a tattoo? Is there something that they should take in consideration?
Richard: The day of the tattoo is also good idea to have gotten good night sleep. Don’t come in hangover, come in on a full stomach, be prepared for a little bit of pain and just enjoy the experience.
Michaela Coman: What’s the most common symbols or design that you see lately?
Richard: Girls, butterflies are always popular, Kenji, little Japanese symbols are very popular. The writing is more and more popular these days, nice curse of lettering. It just depends. If you look at the wall, we have really nice coronation work which is quietly becoming the next tribal trend.
Michaela Coman: And is there anybody who shouldn’t get a tattoo?
Richard: Well if you’re uncertain or if you’re getting someone’s name or you’re not old enough, then I guess yeah these people shouldn’t get tattoos.
Michaela Coman: And what about the after care? How long does it take and what would you have to do?
Richard: After care is touchy because each artist has their own way of doing it. But basically, you’ve going to have a bandage on your tattoo, you keep that on from two to six hours. Once you remove it, you’ll clean the tattoo and then you keep hydrated for the next two weeks.
Michaela Coman: What if somebody, after having had tattoo wants to remove it, what’s the process? What do they have to do, do you?
Richard: Laser tattoo, removal, it’s very expensive. It’s very painful and I just recommend if you get a tattoo, make sure because you want it forever.
Michaela Coman: Thank you very much, it was a pleasure.
Richard: Thanks.
