It was a rough and tumble proud town in its youth and to this date the natives are proud of the name. Rodeo is the official sport of Texas and it is a large part of the Texas culture. The southwestern life’s talk show and Rodeo in Fort Worth showcases traditional rodeos each year.
The Fort Worth’s stockyard is a historical district decorated in a Western motif, celebrating Fort Worth’s long tradition as part of the cattle industry. The stockyard championship rodeo show features trick roping, trick riding, cowboy songs and an entertaining look at history.
Fort Worth is one the major horse capitals of the world. All year long there are prestigious equestrian events. In the open lands around Fort Worth you’ll find lots of working Texas ranches. Some of them are open to visitors for a real taste of old west while others are available for memorable group functions.
Listed on the National Register of historic places, the Fort Worth Stockyard’s National Historic District is a great place to celebrate the romance and mystic of the American West. It covers 125 acres, 15 square blocks of tradition, night life and family fun.
Bars and nightclubs including Billy Bob’s Texas populate the area. Billy Bob’s Texas promotes itself as the world’s largest hanky tank and it’s a popular venue for a wide variety of country and western artist such as Willie Nelson. Billy Bob is huge, three acres with its own indoor rodeo arena for professional bull riding and a general store.
