Mike: Well we got to get connect the crew out on the road where the LG top models event. This is kind a cool because it’s a showcase of all the new gear coming out for this year. The top models, I can kinda see why they invited me along here. I’ve got a back stage pass, we’re gonna check out where this will take me. Well, apparently the top models refers to the top model gear here. Next time though if there's a real top model contest, I might get a shot of that. Frank Lee from LG thanks for coming on the show.
Frank: Thank you.
Mike: I wanna talk about phones and the world is going touch now, obviously with the iPhone is kind a really popularized that whole kind of interface but you guys have a whole range of phone except just one like the apple phones do.
Frank: Right, right. We saw the success of LG product phone about 18 months ago and then followed up by the chocolate series of phones. That touch was really important to Canadians. Anything we can do to make the user interface between ourselves and our product, you know. It just makes easy to the consumer. So we introduced just about two weeks ago the launch of the new touch series by LG. And we start off with the Venus phone here and what happens here is that you actually had the benefit of still having a slide out keyboard but the lower half screen is actually interactive by touch.
Mike: So the top part is not?
Frank: No, it’s not, just a display and this lower half, actually will change the content and the different band use base, based in what you need.
Mike: And I’ve tried this earlier here, when you actually hit the buttons, it actually gives a feedback from the screen.
Frank: Right! The whole idea is it vibrates back; it shudders to let you know that you actually have a touch that button. So again it’s just that constant feedback and interaction with the phone.
Mike: And so what kind of features here, obviously, you can make phone calls, text messaging, camera built in to this?
Frank: Yes, all three phones allow you to take advantage multimedia like a camera, it has a video recorder ability also what's great is you can have touch today and be able to use mostly features that you will need whether access e-mail, instant messaging without new data plan. So you’re existing plan will be able to allow you to do this right now.
Mike: Very cool! So that one is available for teles?
Frank: That’s correct.
Mike: Okay, so we got some other ones here as well?
Frank: Yes, we have this one here, what I love about this is that it’s built on the success of the Shine series. Same body, same design, looks like a camera on one side but again the touch screen on the other and if you wanted to, you can make your call right with the virtual you know the key pad that showed up.
Mike: And this one is a full touch?
Frank: Full touch screen or again you could slide out and you had that convenience.
Mike: People still like kind a tactile field don’t they?
Frank: Right! There's a balance, I think in Canada, we as Canadians are really pragmatic so in some ways we adopt new technology on the other hand we need things to be easy and there's a group of Canadians that still want to have the keyboard.
Mike: And is it the tactile feedback on this one as well?
Frank: Exactly, this also has that feedback with you so that you know again that you’ve engaged the buttons.
Mike: So we’ve got one from Rogers here as well?
Frank: Yeah, that’s correct. And this one here is totally button less, so you’ve totally unbutton your phone.
Mike: Will you make that leap?
Frank: There you go you made that commitment and here again when you’re making a call again a virtual keyboard pops up where we really like about this is that if you into text messaging mode, you can actually call up a virtual keyboard and again through the vibration, but also visually it will scale up the buttons so you can see that your actually engage specifically lighters are looking for.
Mike: So you got a couple or three different ways of feedback that you can see visually, you’ve got the feedback you know from the screen there as well and the letters pop up.
Frank: Just popping up.
Mike: As well.
Frank: Yeah.
Mike: So for faster typers like me I’ll get it right the first time?
Frank: Yeah, but again you gonna have some level of dexterity because the buttons are still kinda small.
Mike: So from an industry perspective do you feel a lot of manufacturers are going to touch route now is that can be the future phones?
Frank: What we’re seeing is not just with phones, you’re seeing with any electronic device. Whether it could be your television, your home theater or your cell phone any where you need to interact with that physically, anything you can do to make that interaction easier, more convenient would definitely make you know sense and resonating with consumers especially Canadians, because we’re looking for ways to make our lives easier so anything we can do in that realm is going to be well receive by Canadians right now.
Mike: So this line here then is gonna be called the touch
Frank: Yeah, it’s a touch series by LG.
Mike: Great, well thank so much for coming on the show Frank
Frank: Thank you Mike
Mike: And people gonna find more information that in website?
Frank: Yeah, www.LG.ca
