Mindy: Mindy Morales from Pico Rivera, California, and are there any dangers of females using vaginal condoms?
Elizabeth Miller: Hi Mindy! I am Dr. Liz Miller, thanks so much for your question about vaginal condoms because it indicates to me that you are really interested in taking care of your body.
So vaginal condoms are an excellent way to protect against sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy. The only danger associated with vaginal condoms is if you have an allergy to Latex because many of the vaginal condoms are made of Latex. So if you do have an allergy to latex, make absolutely sure that the vaginal condom you are using is latex-free.
Other than that, the main thing is to know exactly how to use these. Make sure that the smaller ring goes inside of your vagina like a tampon and get sure that the outer ring stays on the outer part of your vagina.
And when your partner is inserting his penis, make sure you hold onto that outer ring so that the penis doesn't accidentally slide on the side of the condom in your vagina.
When you are finished with intercourse, just take that outer ring and twist it around a couple times like you would with a garbage bag before you pull it out to avoid any accidental leakage.
