So next on our list is the Vietnam War. What I want to talk about first is the type of people, peaceful protest song that came out of the Vietnam War, that was -- I think what we will just call it ceterical. It kind of asked people to just -- it just made people take notice of what was going on and while sort of pretending to be okay with what is going on, it causes you to take a step back and go Oh! My God. So, a great song I picked is by Country Joe McDonald of Country Joe and Fish and you could find it all on just about any about Woodstock Compilation.
I actually first heard it when I stole a Woodstock album from my Dad and Country Joe McDonald says the following. He says, "come on all you big strong men, uncle Sam needs your help again, caught himself in a terrible jam, way down yonder in Vietnam, put down your books and pick up a gun, we are going to have a whole lot of fun. Now it is one, two, three, what are we fighting for? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam. Five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates. Hey, there ain't no time to wonder why Whoopee! We're all going to die!"
