What are the benefits of Mozilla’s Firefox?
A number of things that I really like about Firefox. One of which is the number of ways that you can use Firefox in hands or web surfing, I like tab browsing which is a tool within Firefox that allows you to have a whole bunch of websites open within a single window. So for example you are looking right now at a tabbed window of my G-mail account. At the same time, I can have another website already up and running with a blog of one of my friends. So I can have a whole bunch of different websites up and running and it really does not clutter up my desktop with a whole bunch of open windows. Another thing that I like that Firefox does is extensions for social bookmarking tools. Right here is my delicious extension, so whenever I come across a website that I know I want to save and revisit, I just tag that website and it is automatically saved into my delicious account. A final extension that I tend to use and look at a lot is this live bookmark feed and what that allows you to do is it allows you to automatically subscribe to blogs or other RSS feeds when you come across them, if it is something that you want to keep track of. So I use blog lines and when I come across a blog that I want to keep track of, I click on this button and it takes me to my blog lines. I have already been a member of these blogs so that is why it is showing this message but it is an easy way to keep track of a whole bunch of blogs and it is an easy way to put a new blog into your blog reader.
Okay one of the first things that you need to do in order to get Firefox is to go to the website where you can find the program. You can find Firefox at Mozilla.com and I am trying to highlight the URL for Mozilla. And Mozilla is the parent company that creates and produces Firefox. Once at the website, if you click on download Firefox, what is going to come up is a little save window. It is going to ask you where you want to save this executable file and I like to save my new programs into My Computer and into my D drive. A lot of you will just save it into your C drive. I am going to create a new folder and I am going to call this folder Firefox and I am going to go inside that folder and I am going to save the set up executable file. I won’t make you sit through the download but once the screen bar fills up and the program is downloaded and ready to install.
So once the file is finished downloading, if you go to the drive that you downloaded the program into, I downloaded the executable file into my D drive and I saved in Firefox and there is an icon Firefox setup, 1.5.0.2. You double click on it. It is going to prompt you and tell you how to run and install Firefox. Here is the window of that.
