So if a person wanted to use podcast in the classroom. What they first have to do is download and install iTunes. I am assuming in this tutorial that you have already downloaded and installed iTunes. Once it is installed double click on the iTunes icon whether it is on your desktop or in your start menu. This is going to load iTunes and what comes up is the iTunes Store. If the iTunes Store does not come up in the left hand area of iTunes, click on iTunes Store. I am going to go ahead and maximize my window here. Give it a second to load. So I am in the iTunes store. iTunes is primarily used for music to get music onto iPods but they are wonderful things called podcasts that are within iTunes as well. All of the podcast are recordings or sound files. Some of which might actually be video files that are free to subscribe to. So to get a podcast, you want to click on the podcast link. This will open the podcast area of iTunes. Once the podcast area is open, there are a couple of different ways to find content. You can browse, you can look at the top podcast and you can see that MPR right now is the top podcast or you can also come over here to categories and search. Teachers, especially ELDVELT, we want to go to kids and family. So you click on the link then categories. Once the page loads, these are all the podcast that relate to kids and family. The one that I am going to demo to show you how to actually download a specific podcast is Story Nory, which is are free stories or story book readings that are appropriate for younger children. So what you need to do once you find the podcast, whether it is an image or words, you want to click on the link. This is going to load the subscription page for that podcast. Now to get all of or some of the podcast that are made by Story Nory right here, these are examples of stories. The easiest way is to come up to the top and click on subscribe. It will prompt you if you want to subscribe then just say yes, click on the subscribe button. And then you will notice over in the left hand area beneath the stores it is downloading. And what it is downloading right now is the most recent Story Nory podcast. It will allow you to download other ones but that is an additional step. So once it is downloaded, and you know it is downloaded when the download link disappears. You want to go up to the top beneath library and click on podcast. This area over here that has library in these choices store in these choices and then playlist all refer to different parts in iTunes. The stores where you find the podcast when you want to listen to it, you want to go to the library and this library is on your local computer. So you want to click on podcast right here and these are all the lists of podcast that I subscribe to. So the define the Story Nory podcast, look for Story Nory an it is right here, click on the triangle and it is going to drop down the list of all the podcast that are available, notice only the most recent one is bold and there is a check mark. To listen to it, you can select it and press play or you can double click on it. Listen to it. (demo) If you want to get other podcast episodes, all you have to do is click on the get button that is next to a title and that is basically how you download it and install podcast.
