The haywire twist

The Haywire Twist starts by inserting the tag end of the wire through the eye of the hook and then bending the back to form a 90 degree angle with a standing part. Hold your thumb of your secondary hand at the juncture, so that you can twist with your primary hand.

The twisting is done in half twist until you have four or five haywire wraps in that wire. Once you get the four or five haywire wraps, straighten the wire and do a barrel wrap. That is where each strand lies next to the strand before. Then you do that four or five times, maybe six, and when you are finished, you are going to break the wire because if wire is broken, it will not cut you. It will not leave a sharp edge.

Bend the wire to form a handle for your right hand, move it back and forth. You may have to move it back and forth three or four times until it breaks. Once that wire breaks, you have a smooth connection. That is incredibly strong; the haywire twist is incredibly strong. It is not going to come loose and you can grab the hook or grab the wire and you will not cut yourself.
