This I watchmojo.com and I am Lois. I’ll be profiling Vancouver; a pretty sophisticated and a pre-diversed place. It is consistently waded as one of the top places to live in the world. Why is that? Where’d that start? It was all with Hudson’s Bay Company, fur trading and the finding of gold along the Fraser River that cleared on the mountain first place..
A trail to the Burrard Inlet was built; the first of its kind. Along with it and the Canadian Confederation came a sailor by the name of Captain John "Gassy Jack" Deighton. Vancouver’s popular Gastown was given this name to honor his talkative tendencies not his flatuation as his name suggests. He came for the gold but never really found enough to strike it rich. What he did find; he invested into the Burrard Inlet. Today, if you visit Vancouver, you can take a tour of Gastown free of charge and check out all that stuff.
With over 2 million people, Vancouver is obviously a really big place. There are a lot to do, lots to see. It’s one of the only cities in Canada where you can ski in the mountains and swim all in the same day. Artist and designers find their inspiration on commercial drive and young professionals can soak up the chik vibe of Yaletown.
If you are in the city, you have to check out Granville Island Market. It’s one of my favorite places. Its home to a really big public market, it’s got lots of really cool vendors. Also Robson Street is a shopping destination of the city. It’s pretty rough on the credit card but it’s a good time. If you are wanting something a little more serene, you can go to Stanley Park; a massive green space right in the middle of the city; do some jogging, you get Zen back and you Culture Gurus out there, I know you’d be interested to know that Vancouver has one of the most authentic China towns around. It’s big and it is waiting for you.
All you athletes out there, you can jog up the gross grind, it sounds easier than it really is; the rest of us will walk up but the view is breath taking when you get to the top but save some energy, the night light in Vancouver is already pretty pump in and you bar stars and night crawlers can hid it up on Grand Bell Street.
If you are traveling to Vancouver in the summer, I highly recommend the bar on theBbeach Festival, it is a great Shakespearian Festival which is unique to Vancouver but there is also some great all season round trips that you can do. You can check out Capilano Suspension Bridge. It is a bridge elevated hundreds of feet up, it is naturally breath taking and it is open all year round.
In the heart of Vancouver is an authentic Chinese garden, Doctor Sut Yat Sen’s classical Chinese Garden. It is the first of its kind outside of China and it is gorgeous.
More in summers, bring out Vancouverites and the tourists full fledged waiting for all the beaches in the city but the mild winters, they are home to the lush greenery that surrounds Vancouver and makes it so beautiful. Also home to some of the best runs and slopes in the city, including Wesler and Black Home. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell? Yeah, they call it home. Jeff Goldblum has been spotted playing a piano in a downtown lounge. Robin Williams frequence in eatery off of Burrard street. Gwyneth Paltrow, Barbra Streisand, John Travolta; they have all been there. Vancouver is home to the largest film industry in Canada which brings in $1 billion to the local economy. All in all, Vancouver is pretty amazing. Need a Vancouver ride, so I might be bias but it’s a great place to work, to travel and to play.
