Corrine: Hey there, Rob and Corrine here. Welcome to Thread Heads. This week, we are hanging out with independent clothing designer 12 Mood Studio.
Rob: So, if you got any extra t-shirts lying around, now is the time to bust them out and get to refashion it.
Vanina: Welcome to my house, bienvenidos. My name is Vanina and I am behind 12 Mood Studio. I am here in San Francisco. I have been crafting, almost like, since I was 12 years old. It is the way that I liked to express myself instead of going to the store and buy a thing—it does not have any attachment to you. It is a form of communication by wearing what you believe.
So today, I am going to show how to make a skirt out of t-shirts that you do not use anymore. I took inspiration out of the book Generation T.
So the first thing you want to do, you want to measure yourself, so that amount, let us say it is 30 inches, if you want three panels. You will divide that by three and that each panel, you are you are going to add an inch. So we will have half an inch for seam allowance.
Then you want to figure it out on how long you want, 14 inches. And that is good because you will have one inch less if you want to do a seam on the bottom. But you also will have a waist band that will be two inches. So you will do a pattern that will look like this—11 inches here, 14 inches here and then the length that you want this skirt to be.
Then you will take your t-shirt. Try to put that pattern on the design. You pin it, so we will not move it and then you cut the shirt. And this is how the panel should look. So once you have that. You are going to pin the three panels together, right size together. So now you have your three panels attached by pins, we are going to sew. And then you will turn around right side up.
So, the next step, I am going to show you really quick how to do a waist band. You just get one t-shirt and you are going to use the same measure that you use for your waist. Our measure is 30 inches, so we are going to use 15 inches. So I would like to do two inches. I am going to measure four inches because then I will put this one in half. Now we are going to cut it and this one, we will really want to cut both sides.
So once you have the piece that you cut, you are going to turn it and you are going to put right size together and you are going to sew it in or fit. So once you have that, you want to fold this in half with the right size looking up. So the wrong size will reach again.
The next and final step, you are going to put the waist band trough the skirt with their edges matching. You are going to pin this and then you are going to sew. Once you have attached your waste band to the skirt. This is obviously another skirt, but this is how it will look when you are finished.
Go and get all the t-shirts on your closet that you do not use anymore and go and make it. It is really fun to wear and it is you, you made it. So it is a part of yourself. I want to see yours. Chow!
Rob: Are your school is always dull and boring?
Corrine: Does everyone walk around looking the same? Well we want to help you. We, along with our amazing team of DIY designers will come to your school or complete the DIY fashion make over.

I win and toss from the boutiques in the bay areas and all that designers were not represented in the bay area very well and the other stores. If you are supporting people in your community, you are keeping filled with your stuff to a minimum, because you are not shipping things all the way from the other countries across the ocean. This is kind of the right time for these kinds of thing to be supported by customers. www.ragsf.com.
