Interviewer: And keyboard technique. So, very, very briefly that is how a mechanism works.
Interviewee: Cool.
Interviewer: So we are back again and I finished setting a temperament. Actually, what I do is I set a temperament across as much the piano as I can. I do not just confine it to the middle. So, what I am doing now, I am going down to occupy of this but I am using mostly major thirds to check the intervals. So, if you can listen very carefully (Music playing). You hear the speed of that one. (Music playing) the speed of that one (Music playing) then notice they will gradually slower as it goes down the scale (Music playing).
That shows that I have the right ratio about this unit for all of them. Now, here, this is where anharmonsity is starting rear over the head.
Interviewee: Yes, I can hear that.
Interviewer: Because in this partial. I do not know if you can hear that. That has one beat, but this one has another all together. So, there is actually two sets of beats that are quite audible and there is actually on more than that in the mix. But, this are the two main ones (Music playing).
So, we have a very slow one. Then, also, another one (Music playing) about that fast and the upper one, you can hear it slightly more than double the speed of the lower one. So, it kind of out strip itself. But, if you listen to it, it get pretty confounding. You just have to work through it. Small, vertical pianos can be a lot worst than that. But, that is just part of the tone covering the piano. So, I just focused on (Music playing) is the first okay? Is the third okay? (Music playing) and so forth.
I will say this piano is a relatively short one. Generally, you knew that probably at least about a six foot three grand before you get through the string lengths such and still the steel design, such that problems have been are harmoniously are starting to get minimize. By the time you get to a nine foot to a grand. You will still be in harmoniously but you should be able to hang a pretty smooth tuning where all the beat waves workout fairly close to what they should be theoretically. Just as in interesting aside, you will note that the strings have quite different diameters to them. Now, if you were to start with the optimum gage of wire and use that same wire across the whole span of piano, that would reduce your anharmonicity because you should because you should be using the same diameter wire for everything.
However, in order to produce this low tones, that piano will line up being about 70 feet long which would be how many meters. Well, an excessive 20 meters so, it is hardly practical. The piano is actually, very much compromised. A very sophisticated and highly evolved compromise but a comprised nonetheless. So, I will carry on because I have a lot of works to do and you will here that they ambush me when I came tonight and what I did is, they come to me and they said, you want to be on YouTube. Why not, they will never know. I might get some snarky piano technician right into a year of miserable on how you should do it this way. But, that is okay because piano technicians are the most opinionated but I have never come across. So I just do what I do and I standby my results and hear to set a musical standard and it seems it sought most everybody so, there you go (Music playing). That was not quite right.
You see the four counts and a little beat to it. So, if knocked that one down just hear it (Music playing). Now, you remember that all the are keys are flat, all your force are sharp (Music playing). Now, here is another test (Music playing) both should have the same. They should do the same pitch (Music playing). Which one is faster?
Interviewee: The lower one (Music playing).
Interviewee: I am catching on these (Music playing)
Interviewer: A little bit faster, right? (Music playing) a little bit faster. I am in the right key and you said (Music playing). So, you and your piano is already quite funky.
