Vincent: Hi, I am Vincent Worley, I am here with Doug Robinson. Doug is a—we call the flooring expert. He is 25 years in the industry. We are talking about some different things over about the floors.
Doug, one of the questions that people ask me all the time is how do I care for my hardwood floors? Do you have any suggestions or any tips anything like that?
Doug: Sure. The nice part about a hardwood floor is the simplicity of how to take care of it. It is one the easiest floors in the industry to take care of. You simply sweep it up with a dry vacuum, we would call, or vacuum stick and sweep up all the excess crumbs and such.
And then get a sweeper, bottle of cleaner like such, apply the cleaner to the sweeper head and do the 10 x 10 or 7 x 7 foot areas at a time. It will dry rapidly, and then that is pretty much it, pretty much stand at that point.
Vincent: Oh, wow! So, I have heard some people say that vinegar and water to use on these floors, I even heard my folks that had some old hardwood flooring, they used like oils or some stuff like that. Is that still valid on today’s floors or not so much?
Doug: The best way to put it is this—nothing you mixed with water goes well with wood. So anything that goes in a bucket and has something associated is a no, no.
And in fact in website, when we look at any major hardwood floors experts as well, they will tell you that.
The acids in some of the cleaners that are out there can actually do anything, so, it is a very much a negative. And it takes longer in that way also compared to the way we really recommend which you could probably do a 600 foot area in approximately 20 minutes.
Vincent: Oh wow! Great, well thanks Doug
