Steve: In 1996 I was a Police Detective and I was always interested in Psychological profiling. What made serial killers and 06 offenders tape.
Remember this, for everyone lie you tell, you have to invent two or three to protect your self from the first one. Secondly, you have the great memory, because you got remember what you have said previously they are going to go to contradict me now.
Neurologically, truthful people do not go to that rationalization process. If I ask people on this audience what you did this morning? You would be relying on memory for recall. So you would find your memories, your feelings, emotions description would be much more comprehensive, which if your fabricating or embellishing, you cannot rely on them. Research shows us under MRI scanning, when we fabricate, embellish and make things up. We use three parts of our brain, which if you are recalling information we only require one part of that brain.

Steve: Bill Clinton, when he was talking about Monica Lewinsky, during his testimony. He said, “Was my answer where legally accurate, I did not volunteer information.” We call that lying by my emission. People will only tell you what they want you to know. It is up to good interview to ask good direct probing questions.
I consult my services to the major in different homicide squads around the Country. What they will do is they get me to analyze content and structure, during the interview and remember this I maybe be able think of the law that can I effectively communicate it. And often, nine times out of the ten we listen to the content of what people say, we listen to what they say and we tried to find fault with that content.
The problem is this, what if that person is so well rehearsed? What if that person it so well practiced at delivering that deception? And we put the lyrics into basket, we do not look propelling whipstitch to ask, mark our expression, distressing signal, hand signal, hand to face contrary body languages behavior and then we are going to miss valuable data or information.
Be aware of what we call qualifying statements. “I want to say one thing and I am going to say this again. I did not have sexual relation with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anyone to lie. Not a single time never. I need to go back with in the American people.” When I heard that I literally fell off the couch laughing and the reason is truthful people barely rarely fill the need to qualify statement before they in fact say it. I want to say one thing and they go on to say what the person what really wants to say, but they cannot because they know what if they do. They get in into trouble especially if Hilary is watching.
So, we need to make sure that we analyze, not just the content, but the languages used, as well. Nine times out of ten how often have you been somewhere? You listen to somebody and you get a gut feeling ‘no, that is not true.’ Does that ever happen to you? The reason that happens is because we base our deception on our observations.
