Hiroko: Hi, this is Hiroko. Welcome to Akibatteru. Today, we’re coming to you from the Tokyo Game Show 2009. All around me, there are lots of games. Let’s take a look around.
Martyn: One of the first places Hiroko stopped was this Sony booth. Final Fantasy 13, one of the hottest games of the year will be available in December, and visitors could get an early try of the game on the show floor. There’s also a special edition Final Fantasy 13 Playstation 3 coming out. The white case features an illustration of Lightning, the game’s heroine and the Final Fantasy 13 name. It goes on sale with the game on December 17th and it will cost 41,600 yen, that’s 459 US dollars, there are no details on if it will be available overseas. The game will hit Europe and north America in the spring of 2010. Sony also gave a demonstration of its motion controller. It’s the Playstation 3’s answer to the Wii remote, and it comes with a camera. At TGS, Sony announced it will launch in Japan in the spring of next year, so stay tune to Akibatteru for more information. Microsoft brought its Project Natal prototype, the system uses an infrared camera to turn your entire body into a controller. Just jump around and your movements are copied on screen, if you thought that playing the Wii was energetic, just wait until you play this.
Hiroko: Now, I’m at the NeuroSky booth, using these headphones, there are sensors here and on my ear and they measure brain activity. By concentrating and relaxing, I can control the game.
Martyn: Hiroko tried out the futuristic gaming technology, and with a little practice, was soon able to play these simple games. The headset will go on sale this month for around 200 dollars and a selection of flash games will be offered. The game show is all about games, and everywhere you go, people are playing them. This year, a hundred and eighty five thousand people came to Makahari, just west of Tokyo to visit the show. That’s down around 9000 people on last year, probably because there aren’t any super hot releases of games in the show floor. The 2010 game show will take place over the weekend of September 18th and 19th, so start saving your money now.
Hiroko: Take a look at this. Every year, at the end of each day, the girls on the Sony booth give a final goodbye. That’s all for today, we hope you enjoyed it. Next time, we have a special edition for you. Nino, a producer for the German edition of Akibatteru is here and we took him around Tokyo at the weekend. Please look forward to it.
