Tomato and Gruyere Cheese Tart with a little bit of Pesto. The first thing you want to start off with is you want to start off with a nice sheet of puff pastry. Puff pastry is something that you can find easily in the market any market should have some. She got a nice piece of puff pastry and we’re going to get a cutter and this is about a three inch for 2 ¾ inch but I would say three inches is a good size. We’re going to take that; we’re going to cut a couple of pieces out.
The reason I like this for herbs because it’s very, very simple you see the dew but it has a fantastic flavor to it. We’re going to cut some of those out there and then we’re going to get a Roman tomato. I’m going to take—cut the roman tomato roughly about I would say about eight of an stick and make sure that when you buy your tomatoes that you’re buying tomatoes in a nice and beautiful red in color. Then we’re going to put one of those right on top of the tart like that as you can see very simple we have a little bit of Gruyere Cheese that I’ve previously grated. If you don’t want Gruyere, you can use a Swiss cheese as well.
I think you should definitely use more of a semi hard cheese and we’re going to put a cup of those on there like that. So that that’s one more of the cheese on there, so after we get this process then we’re going to transfer to a baking sheet here. You just take your dish and transfer them to a baking sheet then this is going to go into the oven at 375 degrees for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Tomato tarts in the over that should just about be ready now. As you can see, they’ve multiplied in the oven there okay so this is what the tomato if you start looks like when it’s completed because he’s a beautiful nice brown color to it, the tomato has cooked just a little bit and the cheese is not too thick on top. This is a fantastic tart.
You’re going to get a little bit of pesto, so put a little bit of pesto right on the center there and we’re going to take a little bit of basil. Basil we’re going to use for a garnish and this is a great dish as well. This is definitely a crowd pleaser; everybody loves basil and tomatoes, cheese great combinations together.
So there you are, there is your tomato and Pesto and Gruyere Cheese tart.
