Welcome to CNET Top 5 where each time of the week we countdown another hot CNET
list. I'm Tom Merry. Some say the day of he MP3 player is dead. What would every
phone capable of playing music now? But, those people don’t go to the gym or maybe
they have very small music collections. If you want a durable player that can hold your
entire music collection, you're going to need a good MP3 player, so, let’s countdown the
top 5 best MP3 players according to CNET’s editors.
At number five the Sony X Series Walkman, that’s right, the good old Walkman still
reigns or at least it’s around. Actually the X Series is a good choice for audio files, it has
an excellent touch screen and loads of features.
Coming in at number four, the SanDisk Sansa Clip, now this is your small capacity,
durable, take it everywhere music player and unlike many others in its category, it has
good sound quality and a screen.
Up to number three, the brand-spanking new Zune HD and boy is it a beauty. It has an
OLED display, HD radio and outputs HD video to your TV. We just wish it did a little
more in the app and games department but, it’s one of the best portable music and video
experiences you can buy.
Sliding in at number two, the iPod Nano, another take it anywhere player with a screen
and packed with features, including an FM radio, a video camera and a pedometer. It’s
more fashionable than the clip and more expensive.
Before we get to number one, time for another lame priced. The first generation iPod was
reviewed by CNET on October 24, 2001 and we liked it. Now back then, our user
opinions feature included a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Most gave the original iPod a
thumbs up. What was the percentage? If you're one of the first 10 to answer correctly at
the post for this Top % at blog.cnettv.com and you could win this iPod mini armband,
once worn by Molly Wood. Get to answering.
All right, let’s get to our number one, the best MP3 player according to CNET editors,
the one you should run out and buy right now, at number one, it’s the Apple iPod Touch,
the third generation of its kind. It has WiFi, it has voice control, it’s easy to use and it has
something no other MP3 player can boast, the iTunes App Store. That’s why I got an
incredible 9 out of 10.
