Female: Hi everyone, welcome to another edition of the Diet High Five. I am Sarah, your host. Today in the office, we decide to have our own little taste test to see which vitamin/electrolyte enhanced beverage tasted the best. We asked the coworkers in the office to come in and try a sample of each beverage with about this much liquid and then we had them write down a comment or two about what they initially thought about each drink and then we asked them to rank them in order from their favorite to their least. Their favorite with a five and their least with a one.
Currently, I have the drinks listed in order from most calories to the least. Dasani has 0, vitamin water has 125. So now, more importantly, let us take a look and see what our office workers really thought about each drink individually and how they faired against one another. So coming in last for our office taste test was vitamin water. Surprisingly, it has the most calories with 32.5 grams of sugar and many people thought that it kind of tasted a little too sweet for them. I think maybe the fogginess of it, they thought there was too many vitamins added and they could really taste it. This is actually Kelly Clarkson’s version of vitamin water. They usually get a specific celebrity to plug a specific flavor so Kelly Clarkson’s career not doing so well and her vitamin water, not a big fan.
Next we have Life Water by SoBe. You might have seen the commercials in the Super Bowl with Naomi Campbell and the dancing lizards came in second to last per our taste test. Many of our office workers thought that it tasted like fluoride from the dentist’s office so SoBe, you guys made a good effort but did not really do that well in our office.
Next we have G2 from Gatorade. Also a commercial for this product debuted during the Super Bowl. This is the only beverage up here that is not enhanced with vitamins. It is mainly an electrolyte drink so if you are working out and you want something with more substance than water, this might be a good product for you. I personally rank this as my least favorite. I thought it totally tasted like cherry cough syrup straight out of the Robitussin bottle or Tylenol whatever. I think the reason why it is number three is because some of our male taste testers did enjoy it. So if you are someone who likes the original taste of Gatorade or the full calorie drinks, this might be a good option for you to choose if you are looking to lower your calorie intake while you are working out.
Then from second to favorite, we have Dasani Plus. The last one here is 0 calories, however, as a result, a lot of our office workers felt that it tasted water down. However, I think that it is a good product for Dasani because usually people just think they are typically water. However, this is a good effort to jump in to the vitamin enhanced market.
Coming in at number one and my personal favorite, I promise you, I did not bribe any of the office workers, Gatorade’s Propel. It has only 30 calories for this entire bottle. Everybody thought that it was light and tasty. It was refreshing. Some of the men thought it was a little too sweet, however it is kind of interesting to see that females and the males did have different preferences over the beverages. But all in all, our number one pic for vitamin enhanced electrolyte enhanced waters, the Propel. My only complaint about this beverage is that if you come home from a long run and you are extremely out of breath and you kind of just want to guzzle water, you are really thirsty, opening it and taking a sip is kind of hard to drink a lot. It is kind of like baby sips, so you feel like a hamster sucking on your little water bottle. So it is like I do not know. I recommend screwing off the top and then just chugging it if you do want a lot of water, not always the best thing but hey. Sometimes, you are really thirsty.
