In this video I am going to show you how to set up a WordPress account and remote blog.
When you go to www.WORDPRESS.com it is going to take you to this page and it says over here if you are already hip, you can put in your username and password or you can sign up now. So you click Sign Up Now!, and then you just pick a username. So if you are using the identity John Smith you probably want to use the same thing. So you know I am just going to use one that I can actually create this account with. Okay so I put in my username and my password, again you know if I was doing this with the John Smith identity I will put John Smith here and you would put in the password, the e-mail address that you set up, so JohnSmith@yahoo.com for example and make sure that you do that right. And then the next thing is check the legal flotsam and check box here, and here you got two options. It says give me a blog which is going to be username.wordpress.com and the second option is just a username.
Now because you want your WordPress URL to match your keyword like hairremoval.wordpress.com so you have your keyword and your domain name, just for extra added benefit. We are not going to do the give me the blog step, unless you know in advance and you plan the whole thing out and you pick a user name like hair removal as your user name but you do not need to do that. So what you do is just click just the user name please and click next. That is going to take you to the screen that says check your e-mail to complete registration. So you have to click on the link to activate the account. So let us say, that should arrive within 30 minutes. So we are going to do that.
Now when the e-mail comes in it will have a link that you will click on which look like this which will activate the account. So I am just going to go to that URL and so the account is now active, and it says that the account is now active. Log in or go back to the home page. So you click the Log In and then you put in the user name and password. Once you have logged in, it will take you to this page and then what you are going to do is click on your dashboard and you can also go up here and you can click global dashboard there what ever either way or you can click the register blog either way. When you get to the dashboard you just click blog stats and it will say no blogs yet, you do not have a blog, you want to start one, yes and that will take you to the same place that the where you registered.
But now, here is where you pick your blog URL. So we are doing hair removal, this where we will put hair removal or you could put hair hyphen removal and it have to be in available and nobody else can have that so it is going to tell you if it is available. I am just going to do with my identity in this case themematic.wordpress.com but you would use your keyword here with or without hyphens, and then your blog titles. So if it is hair removal, you would put hair removal or hair removal blog or whatever, like again all keyword relevant, so you want the keyword in your URL and you want your keyword here in the title. In this case I am going to put SCO Software, keep it English whatever, do I want it to appear in search engines, yes, of course and then I click create blog. And it tells me that themematic.wordpress.com is available and it is mine. Okay, now I have to log in as themematic using my password. So I go in here and I am putting my password again and now I have my WordPress blog. And once I get to this site, I mean to this page here, there is nothing left I really have to do except delete the starter stuff that it gives me.
Basically if you go over here to manage you will see that it gives you a hello world post which I like to just remove. So, just delete the hello world, check the box and click delete and now it will not have any blog entries. You can click visit site and that is going to take you to your blog, themematic.wordpress.com and here you are. And there is nothing here yet but this is really what we want. And this is the thing that is going to go over here into QuickMarks. So you have your user name in QuickMarks, I mean in WordPress is themematic and the password and the blog URL. We will pick this up in the next video.
