Voice modulation is an incredibly useful skill to have. Notice how I can go from a very deep and rich sort of Bessie tone like a movie announcer in a world like that to─ as a voice actor, which I am not quite yet, someday I hope to be though. But for the sake of expressivity, just like within yourself if you are creative you can convince others externally because the voice is your natural instrument.
I also play piano since high school I played drum and hand percussion. But the voice is with you, and when you are convincing other people, when you are making a sales pitch, when you are doing a motivational speech. All these sort of things whether you are the president of United States like Barack Obama, or if you are on the flipside a horrible authoritarian dictator.
Nonetheless, it always helps, it cannot hurt to be a wonderful orator and have that commanding skill and grasp of English language, or another language if you speak it, or songs if you sing those and these all applies.
The key that I find to express myself through voice is, when I was a kid, I was inspired in the fritz. I will listen through many, many great speeches. This all helped of course, and beyond that, I just love to compare all this sorts of delivery styles of various comedians. For example, Rodney Dangerfield was a fantastic example. Your dead or respect, I misquoted that but that is not the point. The point is you listen to all this kinks, all this timbers of human being, this people who have squilly shrill voices, people who have very deep and commanding voices.
You call upon all of those, and like Sylar, from the show Heroes. Well I am not calling you on you to cut open people’s heads and take their power that way, but, through your sort of empathy of box. I am looking for a Latin word, which I do not know, but you focus on imitating that. It is just like when were young, we all must imitate before innovating. We must listen to how our parents speak and by definition I think a lot of what we learn when were young, this is so fundamental. We pick that, and then we have friends, and then we listen to our friends speak. We have slang, we have strict language we have all those sort of new terminologies.
When we you go into work, you are going to learn terms that are bunch of “B.S.” quite frankly like org chart and web 2.0. But that is not the point either, the point is through out all this, you just keep imitating, imitating and then you could imitate then you will find your own voice in this road and through that. Even though you may have an unconventional voice that is fine, as long as you can express yourself honestly like─ you will get reactions, you will be noticed and that is the key thing, memory ability.
If someone forgets you, is the point of long made then it is like nothing ever counted. Nothing ever happened. People must remember what you have done and I hope it is for good purposes. I hope it is for the best of purposes, using your voice to channel your creativity fourth and finding your way in this world. Find your voice.
