Torn ACL Surgery Recovery Time

Chris: Hi, my name is Chris and I am from Sacramento, California. I am 21 years old. I was wondering how long is the recovery period to a surgery to ECMs. Ned Amendola: Well, Chris, the recovery period for recovery after an ACL surgery is a little bit variable. But generally speaking we are talking about an average of six months from the date of surgery until return to sport. The variables that individualize a return to sport may be related to the level of sport that they are going back to. Some very high level sports may need a little bit of extra time to regain their full function before they can reach that high level. Some athletes are little bit more concerned returning to sports. So they just not mentally are confident enough to return to that sporting level and if they have associated injury at the time of the surgery that may take a little bit longer time, but on average it takes about six months to return to sport.
