How is it going everybody? This I Achilles for roflcast.com with torrent a tutorial or torrentorial, huh! Brilliant! I have been getting a lot of emails of people asking me, “Hey Achilles! How do you download stuff?” Because apparently your parents smoked the pot when they are pregnant with you and you came out retarded, you cannot figure out for yourself. So, I am going to show you guys the quick and easy way to get set up. So, first off you have to open up whatever internet browser that you use and if it is anything but Firefox, you are retarded. So, open up Firefox and you want to download the client. So, in the past we had things like Napster, Scara Search, BearShare, LimeWire. Now, you can use a different type of program. The one that I personally use is called uTorrent. So go to utorrent.com and then click on Download up here at the top and click on the latest Stable release. So, as you can see the file so it is really, really small so, it would not take very long to download. Once it is finished just open it up. It will be on your Desktop and then paranoid windows was like, okay you want to run this? Like, yes whatever. It will give you three options here. You can install it to your Start Menu. Here, you can install it to your Desktop or you can install it on a Quick Launch which is usually a toolbar that is on your taskbar. I just clicked yes to all because it is going to go every where anyway. All right, so, once this is open you will know that it is not here on the main toolbar. It is right here in the taskbar right next to your time and whatever icons you have or wireless. See, when you open that up then it will take you to the program. Now, with the older peer to peer networks, you actually search the files within the program. But now, you are not going to do that. You are not going to go online to search for the files. So, I use a site called TorrentScan occasionally and what this site does, it just amalgamates all the different torrent sites. So, it has The PirateBay and isoHunt, the Demenoid, the BTjunkie. So, you do not have to run around look for files in a bunch of different places. So, you can download whatever you want. TV shows, movies, games, music but remember a lot of that is illegal so, big brother is always watching and be safe. So, we will download something like Ubuntu which is a Linux distribution. We will try The PirateBay, which is usually the most popular. The first thing that comes up is probably going to be, you know, porn as usual. But if you just go down a little bit you will see the real files that you want to get. So, download the latest version of Ubuntu right here. Just click on the download link right here and it went download to your system, you should to open it up and when you open it, it will load up in your torrent program. Now, by default it goes to My Documents/Downloads and whatever the name of the file is and it will tell you how big it is. It will tell you the date that you have added it on and the name of the file. Now, if you have multiple files in here sort of downloading a full album. It will give you the entire track listing down here and then you can select and deselect whichever ones you want. But this is just one file so we are going to download that. So, when you click okay and let us start downloading and then, when it does start downloading it will tell you right here how much time has elapsed in the download. How much information you have downloaded total? How much you have uploaded and how many seeds there are? What seeds are? They are people that have the total file completed on their computer that are sharing it with people. There is currently 1242 in this swarm which is a ton. Usually you will get anywhere from like on to 50 on average but for a bigger file like this, you will get a lot more. Peers are people that you are right now who are starting to download the file. Now, the way that BitTorrent works and the reason that it is faster that peer to peer, instead of trying to download a giant chunk of a program off another person’s connection, you get tiny bits
