Toyota FT-CH Concept Car
Hi! I am Joe Wiesenfelder with cars.com here with the Toyota FTCH Concept car. Now,
we don’t know a whole lot about this concept car but it is a Toyota hybrid so we though
we’d tell you a little bit about it anyway.
Now, FT stands for Future Toyota as it always does and CH means Compact Hybrid. It is
smaller, about 22-inches smaller from bumper to bumper than the Toyota Prius. It’s about
as wide though. Now, the idea here is a smaller, more affordable and more efficient
hybrid than the Toyota Prius.
Four seats and they are very different seats. They are made of mesh, small and
lightweight but this is very much a concept car interior, pretty fantastical, not very likely
to be a real car the same goes for the shape of it. It’s a really dramatic Prius in the sheet
metal and is strangely shaped rear window. That is really expensive to manufacture.
Honestly, the idea is the real idea but in terms of actual compact hybrid, it's smaller. The
Prius, this probably isn’t it. Now, even though this is a way out concept car, it’s not a real
product. I think they have the right idea unlike the Honda CRZ which is an actual product
that’s out at this auto show. It is a two-seater. It’s smaller than their inside. It’s also less
efficient in the inside. Who knows how much it will cost? I think it’s a much better
approach to have a smaller, more efficient, more affordable hybrid. I think that’s what
hybrid buyers want.
