Tracy Porter: Okay, I have good ones for you guys today and I know it’s one that everybody can relate too. Believing in your self, this is one of my biggest, most favorite, favorite mantras. I tell my kids this all the time and I use it on myself all the time. It’s just another way to be that much more extraordinary.
So believing in yourself can be a lot of different of things and it doesn’t matter who you are in life. What you do, where you come from. Find a way to believe in yourself and I’ll tell you what when you do everything seems to just kind of work out. No matter what is going on around you in the world if you believe in yourself so much more can be felt by you in so many ways. You will enjoy your whole day-to-day experience just that much more. When I was a kid, I ran track in cross country and we used to show horses and stuff and what I used to do is that I would close my eyes before I had any competition and I would see myself. I do this the night before too.
I would just envision myself winning the race or completing the race. It wasn’t even always about winning at it. It was just about I know I can do this. I know I can complete it. I know I can make this happen. I try to see myself crossing the finish line first or anything like that. I still to this day do this. If I have something coming up that I’m sort of really thinking about, I will close my eyes and I will envision the outcome and I will truly see myself having the conversation doing the whole thing and it’s my way of believing in myself and of me reassuring me that I can do this. I know I’m capable of this. I know I have this in me. Why shouldn’t I be able to do this? Why should someone else do it and I can't, that’s a kind of stuff that I do.
I still all the time have to sort of talk myself up because it happens to everybody. I don’t care what you do. There’s always this moment that you have re-have to kind of go “Okay I can do this” and so that’s one of the things I do to truly believe in myself. You know, I’m a confident person all ready but even though I am, I still have this moment of “Huh, this is an interesting situation” and then I just envision what I want it to become. I know that I’m capable of it. I close my eyes, I walk myself through it, I see the whole thing happening and it’s just one more way for me to believe myself.
So just remember, whether you are a teacher or you are a horse trainer or you are a therapist or an artist, whatever it is you do you must believe in yourself. It’s just one more thing you can do it for yourself and one more way that you can be extraordinary.
