Female: Happy Friday everybody and it’s time for another inspiration. And you found us
in the bidding sole of Tracy’s home.
Tracy: Yeah you guys know this is where we spend most of our time we even spend a lot
of our time with you here. You guys ask us so many good questions over the
months and over all the time we spend together about the kitchen.
Female: Yes and to ask if that’s normal you know we spend most our days here getting
ready to film, we are together and lots of bunch here when you and John design to
the kitchen.
Tracy: We’ve been through all of that, we figured that was high time to get in here and
share all the details. Your question has been so fantastic and there are so many
good things about this station. There are things we want to share with you that we
love that we did and then of course things said you know it would be worth
rethinking so—
Female: These practical things?
Tracy: Yes there are.
Female: There are tips and secrets that I love that allow us to live and have an experience
to the kitchen more beautifully.
Tracy: Absolutely.
Female: And there are you know little bits and pieces that our things that maybe you do
already or that you might see or that will point out that might actually too late and
hunts.
Tracy: Your kitchen living.
Female: I think it will.
Tracy: I’m going to give you some tips.
Female: Sounds good.
Tracy: And we can jump in, why you don’t point a fabulous thing out.
Female: I will, I’ve got some fantasies happening in the kitchen you guys that I don’t have
in my house. Now this might be very normal to you but it’s something that I and
hoping for it for some point. You know Tracy has these four little guys in here
home and you know dishes become quite something most days. So they were
smart enough from day one into the child to dishwashers now that’s a fantasy for
me.
Tracy: It was my father’s idea.
Female: Was it really?
Tracy: Yeah, you know what my dad— do you want this with anything in it?
Female: Just a little bit of sugar please.
Tracy: Alright a little sugar.
Female: I’m more of the coffee girl so she’s not sure about how it take the tea.
Tracy: I was my dad idea.
Female: Brilliant?
Tracy: Yeah it really works.
Female: Two side by side and most days that I’m over here there is one that’s a foul, dirty
ready to be turn done and then there is one that’s empty where to be unloaded, if
you didn’t have too what would you do?
Tracy: I would have—
Female: Thank you.
Tracy: So many dishes in the sinks. Now it would be ridiculous now we get it entirely
that you might not be able to right away put another dishwasher into your home
but if you’re ever in the middle of the rehab it would be a great things to do
because especially if you entertain a lot or if you got you know a whole of kids.
Female: Yes, it’s fantasy.
Tracy: It is so practical and it’s ridiculous.
Female: Right in our home with these two kids who keep us busy and full of dishes but
literally I’m emptying and starving it once a day as I’m sure you guys can relate
too.
Tracy: And other farms house you, I don’t know if you remember this.
Female: Yes, I do.
Tracy: This dinky little dishwasher that you could fit all of like four glasses in.
Female: And then you even use it.
Tracy: I didn’t use it made not.
Female: No you stood to your kitchen counter that was this low and she stood there her
long tall to self with the back cake and trying to wash dishes every night right. So
we need to talk to introducing to this because this is spectacular.
Tracy: This was one of our favorite things you know that the kitchen in our farm house I
don’t know if you guys notice but John and I have this farm house that we did this
whole rehab in the Wisconsin it was so good for us because top to bottom you had
to rehab this thing and there is so much learning about what work for us and what
it didn’t work mess the cool thing about thinking through how you live and what
you want in your home so the kitchen sink was my nemesis.
Female: She just keeps talking about it.
Tracy: It just made me not and so when we’re building this kitchen I said John we are
going to go and get ourselves one of those huge industrial restaurant sinks. So we
went to this restaurant place and I don’t know we go this for I think it was like I
don’t even know it was cheap and it so practical because they literally rip to that
kitchen so what’s great about it is you can see how deep the sinks are we use to
bead maxim pin and the sinks when they are baby’s.
Female: Yes.
Tracy: And this huge thing allows you know all kinds of you know its furious washing, I
love this thing I would never go back too.
Females: I don’t think you don’t know how?
Tracy: The whole kitchen will be soaking.
Female: And aside from serious washing and practicality, I’ve been here many occasion
when Tracy and John are entertaining is this not always a conversation piece
because every guy in the room not one will come over and escorted, right?
Tracy: That is cool because we can load it up like your entertaining and you’ve always
get that and we don’t do the dishes where the entertaining we just put them in the
sink and then your not saying them but it so we got this huge and this is all
connected to it so water goes up here and it’s slide right down.
Female: It’s the big drain tray; it’s the big drain tray.
Tracy: And this is a little pretty thing to pointing out too so we’ve got this huge industrial
sink but then this edges a little bit of charm to it and you know we put this a little
platter here the two blue foes and you know surround anything that you’ve got
that’s really practical with beautiful things because I think that’s so nice.
Female: It’s so important because as we always say, the experience is for you.
Tracy: Yes.
Female: The touches that you put out no one to make recognize or notice but as you walk
through your kitchen you’re going to see it and you’re going to feel so good.
Tracy: Oh absolutely.
Female: That you’ve taken the time to put those little touches into yourself.
Tracy: And it’s a balance you know, you know we get that entirely I love really practical
things because I just find it makes living in general so much easier when you have
everything where you need it but it will always taking me time to figure out you
know what needs to be near this and how you know how I fun and I do a lot of
dance around the kitchen we added this great shelving unit under here too which
is wonderful because I want to grab a pot, in the stoves this things is right here
you now I love all the triangles that you put in the kitchens and my dad I mean
you know your moving from this place to this place and this place to that place
but within that even though we have a very industrial looking kitchen the little
pretty touches I think are what soften it and this is another point you won’t talk in
always time is not leaving junk out on your countertops that you are not using all
the time.
Female: Yes, it’s one of my favorite discussion point when I’m doing to the kitchen
because we all either do it or use to do it or not having eye for it but you know in
this moment we live in everything comes package or you know has it’s own
clutter about it. My rule in my kitchen is to keep out the things that you truly need
to have an arm reach just about any moment.
Tracy: Right, right because there is a lot that you don’t.
Female: Yes and keep that took away whether you’ve got cabinets or covered or a pantry
or little closet nearby you know I keep my toaster out all the time and I see you do
too.
Tracy: Yeah, we use our toaster every single day.
Female: Every morning.
Tracy: So I love having a nice toaster a practical toaster.
Female: You know I have you know pretty little things that I kept out but selectively.
Tracy: Yes.
Female: But it’s not too cluttered. I wanted to have room for my stock of books and some
pretty you set them in.
Tracy: Do you keep your coffee maker out?
Female: I do just because it’s a problem.
Tracy: We keep ours too; you know I don’t necessary love the way it looks.
Female: I don’t either.
Tracy: But you know we keep it out, I don’t keep out my freezing art even though I use it
a lot I don’t keep it out because it’s kind of a big bulky thing and I don’t use it
every single day you know.
Female: Yeah I keep two copper pots out on my stove top just because it’s so holms and
pretty.
Tracy: They’re so pretty.
Female: You know be selective about it, don’t let your counter tops become a place for all
of your stuffs. Don’t leave your loaf of bread and its wrap or out on the counter
unless you know they get—
Tracy: They get it all the time. So speaking of this was conversation this morning and
one of our favorite things about your kitchen and that’s why we’ve use to film this
way you guys is because you guys choose a glass front to your cabinets but you
have a caveat.
Female: Well we did and you know I love glass in front in the kitchen I love it for so many
reasons to me it makes me think of wonderful European kitchens and I want them
because they really tall and high but the deal was for us I’m really kind of excited
about little stocks of things and I am sure, I love order.
Tracy: Neatness.
Female: I do.
Tracy: Similar things together.
Female: So I love this stocks of plats or lots of glasses in a row or that kind of thing you
know I just think it’s so pretty. If this also became about your raise crispy boxes
and half open free to lay packages I think we get really ugly and it was just bug
the enemy.
Tracy: And it takes the charm right out.
Female: Exactly.
Tracy: Yes.
Female: So you know if you have less front cabinet and they turn in to that and you don’t
know what to do with them you know what I think I would do I’ve put just a
little—
Tracy: Pretty little fabric.
Female: Slam some of—
Tracy: That’s right. High glue it, nail it and get something bell crow whatever you need.
Female: Some little European coffee.
Tracy: Coffee curtain you now and if you can keep the upper parts nice and tied to the
net school and let the lore apart because you know I get and not everybody has
pantry you know we didn’t have a pantry for the longest time and for us it was
just you we’re just shopping things in the kitchen anywhere you could find the
spot.
Female: Wherever you could, yup.
Tracy: You know and not everyone get the opportunity to design there kitchen, it’s sort
of a situation where you moving to a house this is what you’ve got and you still
deal with that set of rules and that’s—
Female: And that’s works.
Tracy: Very real and it works too.
Female: Okay I have a new topic that I know it’s one of your favorite to talk about, we
can’t take it for guaranteed, okay we have the functionality in your kitchen of the
stainless steel counters but if you were ask the question Tracy Porter what’s your
fantasy countertop material it would be?
Tracy: White model.
Female: But you’ve found the way to get it in.
Tracy: I did, this is really good, and that was such a good price.
Female: Thank you.
Tracy: So we did stainless steel countertop for two reasons, one is it was sort of all that
was in the budget and it was really practical for us because we put them you know
this just how we work in our kitchen and everything is just needs to really
function but I can honestly say some say I would love to have white marble
countertop so for us to get that in what we did is we have this slab of marble over
from a sink and I put rubber this is just the slab literally stuff affair and it works
so great because it let’s me have a little bit of each and I’ve got another little trunk
in the other hand that’s you know I bought another trunk of marble but it such a
great way to get what you want.
Female: Right.
Tracy: Into your kitchen.
Female: It’s something that your— if you have a goal that is a big one and your not quite
there yet don’t think that is all are nothing. I’ll do to ourselves you think will my
kitchen is not going to be amazing until I have that whatever it might be.
Tracy: Not the case.
Female: Find a way, I mean I have in my kitchen a darling little petite marble shelves that
hang about my stove with my spices and things on it.
Tracy: It is a European.
Female: Yeah and you know what it’s great and it gets me my little flavor without having
to go to the big expend and that’s wonderful.
Tracy: Exactly, I think that you know I think that’s the point the your making is so key
because it is so easy where us to go you know will our guest out.
Female: And that the case finding way to get it in.
Tracy: Find a little way.
Female: Yes.
Tracy: Yes, whatever you want if you don’t you know you had mention you want it be
all that someday you have pass and someday that you could have best because
somebody it was sear that’s a breakup by bringing basket into her kitchen and
always and eventually it will happen.
Female: You know what we are talking about girls when you have those rustic European
basket we keep all your little potatoes and onions and things ready if arms reach
that it just love that.
Tracy: Yes if you have that in your kitchen you email us.
Female: Yes we’ve love to see them in the community.
Tracy: So we could go on an on there are so many bits and pieces you know that we can
talk about we’ve written about some of it if you guys can see but you know there
is a lot of good stuffs here, we would love you to share your kitchen with us.
Female: We would.
Tracy: Because we know that you guys have such an inspiring spaces and—
Female: And we would for sure to find lots of things to help us enhance our kitchen with
seniors.
Tracy: You know we love hang in out in your kitchen with you. Cheers!
Female: Happy Friday have a good weekend.
