Hi everybody, I am Kevin Flynn and welcome to another edition of Travel Bytes. This week we are in New York City, the Big Apple, and we are talking fun things to do, and if you are talking fun with the kids, you got to start out with the biggest patch of green on the island Manhattan, New York City Central Park.
Central Park is one the most famous and one of most beautiful parks in the world that is surrounded by concrete and steel, but there are some parts of Central Park, when you get away, you don't even know you are in a city, and there are all kinds of fun things for the family to do.
Central Park spans over 843 acres located right in the heart of Manhattan, and needs that much space, because the place host over 25 million visitors a year. The park features over 21 separate playgrounds, has two ice staking rinks, and even has a zoo. There are all kind of monuments and fountains, it has the great lawn. A place where New York City's Sunday's, and every summer they have great concerts. There are all kinds of things to do in Central Park if you're into recreation, whether it's sports and fitness, or just hanging out. Central Park is the must see, when you come into the Big Apple.
Alright, if you come in the New York City, one great thing to take advantage of are the multitudes of museums aligned the New York City streets. Right now I am outside of the museum of Natural History, which is located just opposite Central Park, the upper west side of Manhattan. There are literally hundreds of exhibits for the kids to see. They are fun, and they are informative, and the adults also have a good time too. So let's go inside it and check some dinosaur bone.
The American Museum of Natural History. Inside you can see one of the worlds largest collections of fossils and dinosaur bones. But don't worry, this is no Jurassic Park, those dinosaurs are dead. The museum has all kinds of exhibits, things from ancient civilization to the newest thing evolutionized, to ancient artifacts as well. I found this odd looking piece. It says the Beatles white album, some sort of high represents. Beatles, come this way, I have found something.
The museum has all kinds of fun and educational things for the entire family to do. Here the kids can draw and paint, and explore the world of science, through a variety of activity centers that are set up throughout the museum. We should call or visit their website for up-to-date information on all the great things the museum has to offer, and leave some time on your schedule. You can even spend hours taking in all the value of the natural history in detail.
Oh yeah, I know who killed that dinosaur, gingivitis. Alright, you are in New York City, you all want to have some fun, but you all want to do something different. Dad, you want to golf, and maybe lift. Mom, you want to take an aerobics class, and go to a spa, kids you want to play gymnastics or soccer, skateboard, what do you do? Well, you want to get at one place where all is under one roof. Chelsea Piers.
This sports and recreational facility features the cities largest training center for gymnastics. Two basketball gyms, indoor lacrosse and soccer, a skate park, a rock climbing wall, a dance studio, not to mention there are various bowling alley, and a sky rink, which has two full sized ice staking rinks. Chelsea Piers even has a driving range, so dad you come to New York City, you can still shave a couple of strokes off your game.
Chelsea Piers is the one-stop shop when it comes to fun. There is so much to do here. The entire family will have a great time. Well, we are showing you lot of activities here in New York City, hopefully a couple of options for you and the family. So get yourself to New York and have some fun. For Travel Bytes I am Kevin Flynn. We'll see you next time.
