The city of Florence has more cathedrals per capital than any other city in the world. This coupled with its Roman architecture and its unique atmosphere make it in my opinion where the most romantic cities in the world.
The city of Florence was founded by Julius Caesar in the ancient Roman times as a linked between Rome and France.
That’s Florence bankers were actually one of the first to issue monetary bills, and some of those banks still exist today and are functioning in the exact same locations they did back then.
Now, Florence has a very rich history in art and sculpture. Now this is due to Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, that’s right. Donatello is also from Florence. Because Florence is home to Leonardo da Vinci, it’s also home to the world famous sculpture, David. It’s located at the Academy which in its own is a world famous museum.
Be sure to check out the Piazza della Republica which is home to many cafes and restaurants. Also where to look are Brunelleschi’s Dome and the Pont-Eveque. I recommend Florence over Rome, if only for the reason that it hasn’t coped out to tourism. Well, at least some face value.
