Manjit Devgun: Windy Cobblestone Streets, gorgeous medieval architecture, the home of Kafka and Koziak and audibly the best beer in the world, we can only be in Prague. One of the most romantic cities in Europe if not the world.
Hi, I'm Manjit, today on City by City we’ll head on the Czech Republic for short tour of its famous capital. Spread destruction by war, the historical richness of Prague has been miraculously preserved. You'll want to visit Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square and many other famously beautiful cites in this city.
First check in to one of the most stylish hotels in town like Prague itself the Josef is gorgeous, redirect contrast to the world outside, Josef is clean and simple and its very contemporary.
Milena Findeis: Hello, we are now in Hotel Josef designed by Eva Jiricna, one of the most famous Czech architect. She’s famous for her use of light, steel glass.
Manjit Devgun: You cannot miss this spectacular glass and steel spiral staircase. A lovely features huge windows and is drenched with natural sunlight. You’ll find many beautiful and unexpected details throughout including the rooms themselves. And you might even find yourself with a pretty decent view.
Peter Knight: Pravda Restaurant has the finest selection of both international and Czech specialties in the whole Prague.
Manjit Devgun: Dinning in Prague has become much more exciting in recent years. Restaurant Pravda with its lovely interior and eclectics international cuisine is a perfect choice. Definitely one of the most happening spots in town. Tall vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers and huge windows give the space an old world charm, blending beautifully with the highly stylize modern interior décor.
Amongst its many attractions is a giant painting a tribute to the bravery leading to the free post communist age. Like the restaurant its called Pravda or truth.
Stepping out at night the possibilities range from DJ’s to —jock but we’ll start tonight in the old town at Tretters Bar, it’s a popular scene with a 30 style atmosphere and a fine old tile bar.
Petr Kymla: In our cocktail book we have 100 types of cocktails but if somebody comes for special cocktails, we can make it for him.
Manhit Devgun: Fire will renounced and a glass of absinth or an excellent selection of cocktails.
Petr Kymla: Every Tuesday from nine until 11 o’clock we have live jazz music.
Manjit Devgun: Perhaps you’ll have the opportunity to trade travel stories with the boss, owner and master mixologist, Michael Tretter.
In Prague you might want to hear the symphony or chain of music but make sure to visit one of its famous jazz bars as well. The Reduta Jazz Club is a classic. Home to Prague’s annual international jazz festival, it features traveling at as well as local jazz musicians and always in appreciative crowd.
On the right night you might even find saxophone played by former president.
If you still have what it takes grab a cab to the Mecca club located in old fabric hole its been around 10 years and still is considered the place to tear it up. Mecca brings an exciting DJ’s from around Europe and the US and its very popular with locals as well as visitors be sure to check it out.
Jan Novotni: We want to enrich your stay, we want to enrich your feeling here.
If you find you're in Mecca and Prague and you will never forget.
