Manjit Devgun: When you talk about Vienna, what comes to mind? Classical music, museums, a wealth ambience, all quite wonderful but there is a more modern side to the city as well. Hello I’m Manjit Devgun and today on City by City we’re going to visit the culture capital of Vienna, Austria. Today we’ll visit an old favorite but mainly we’re leaving the past behind to check out some of Vienna’s hottest, trendiest 21st Century contributions to the Great Art of wining, dining, and kicking up your heels.
Let’s start with your next favorite luxury hotel. Centrally located behind the parliament and the city hall, the Levante Parliament Hotel is a celebration of arts and design.
Roland Eggenhofer: You can have a fabulous dinner with chef cuisine that have Lyman, and our special mentor.
Manjit Devgun: The hotel features contemporary arts throughout the lobby, bar and restaurant, most noticeably the striking classical juice of your one mentor.
Roland Eggenhofer: It was designed that the Levante Parliament have 70 superior rooms and five chimney suites.
Manjit Devgun: Clean lines, dark board, ball red tones, add to that the gorgeous rooms, the location and beautiful garden courtyard and you’ll agree the hotel is work of art itself.
In between museum make sure to visit the Naschmarkt, Vienna’s largest outdoor market still going strong since the 16th century. In addition to a multitude of vegetable bread and cheese stand as well as all sorts of other edible delights, you’ll find flowers, clothing, accessories and prepared meals. The unique old willed atmosphere of the Naschmarkt is famous far beyond the borders of Vienna and it’s definitely a must see.
When you visit the Kunsthal, that’s Vienna’s cutting edge contemporary of museum. Make sure to stop in at a joining restaurant Halle. Open breakfast, lunch and dinner until 2 AM. The Halle blends past with present, tool ceilings, area atmosphere, Cream-colored walls with wood trim and oversize ceiling lamps. Drop by for a cup of coffee or come for dinner to enjoy the cosmopolitan flair of the light constantly changing Mediterranean cuisine.
For your night house, the evening is just beginning. Next stop will be an after dinner cocktail at the Bar Italia Lounge.
Gerhard Bodner: We wanted to create the place in Vienna were you’re going to have a good time and with style.
Manjit Devgun: This place is cool, sleeand contemporary with a fun loving attitude. Soft dreading yellow tones, brown leather, DJ sounds, downstairs dance lounge and most importantly a brilliant list of imaginative live bands. Just don’t enjoy them too much the night is not over yet.
Thomas Gossweiner: Welcome to the Passage.
Manjit Devgun: For our last stop, we’ll visit a former pedestrian underpass to a futuristic subterranean night club. How can you beat that?
Some people have described walking into Club Passage as entering the spaceship about to take off?
Heimo Oberorthner: We offer a built solitude of parties, life style and top culture.
Manjit Devgun: State of the art design, lighting and sound system into national DJs put safe in electronic music and this highly unique location make the Passage absolutely must, so much for old well charm.
