Treating Parkinson's Disease

Jamie: I am Jamie from Morgantown, West Virginia and my grandmother recently got diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and I was wondering if any current research has led to advances in treating this disease. Dr. David Charles: Hi Jamie! I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. Certainly Parkinson's disease is a condition that is very worsened when the diagnosis is made; it's slowly progressive over time. There are a tremendous number of new treatments available for Parkinson's disease, while we still don't have a cure and we can't reverse the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Through research advancements over the years, we do have some wonderful treatments now that keep most people active for years and years.
