Paula Ross: Hi! I am Paula from Andy’s Parties. Today we are telling you how to throw a
great party for your kids for Halloween at your house. Right now I am going to
talk to you a little bit about safety tips for your party and for your after party for
the trick-or-treating and what we want to send home with the kids is the goody
bag. So, we want to try to give them something practical that they are going to use
for their after party, their trick-or-treating and so at Andy’s Parties we like to give
them either a treat sack filled with some goodies that they can use for trick-or-
treating or a pumpkin pail filled with a couple of goodies that they might use,
Halloween pencils, stickers. I have a little pumpkin erasers in here, they can use,
and they use that for trick-or-treating. We also have some cute little masks that
they can use for some dress-up fun with some ghosts and some mummies and
pumpkins and Frankenstein.
As far as safety goes at your party, you want to remember that little kids really do
need mommy’s attention, so whether or not you are doing games or craft activities
or helping make the food, you want to make sure that little kids are always
attended to by mommy or daddy and that is probably ages about 3 and under. At
any age we do try to stay away from carving the pumpkins at the party. It doesn’t
matter how old they are, it can get dangerous and messy and sloppy and besides
the risk of having the knives and the carving tools out. We don’t want anybody
slipping and falling in all the goop, and so we try to stay away from that at the
party. Do it before the party, use the craft pumpkins as a decoration or just paint
the pumpkins. We also have some great ideas for some group trick-or-treating so
that you don’t have to go out alone, you or your child has to just to go out alone at
trick-or-treating, and they can have some good times with their friends. As
mommies and daddies sometimes we participated with them across the dinners
and so what we want to do is try to set up the same thing for trick-or-treating
rather than just take your child out and go knocking door to door.
We want to get together with the group or their buddies and their parents and set
up a station at each of their homes so they are with the same group of 10 or 12
friends and you are going to a certain number of their houses and you are doing an
activity and getting a treat at each house. That way you know where the treats
have come from and what the kids are doing and who they are with all the time
and also we want to make sure that we wear reflective tape on our costumes or
wear very light colored costumes. We don’t want anybody getting hit by a car or
not seeing when they are crossing the street because of the dark on Halloween
night and that will cover for our safety tips as always travel in groups and
hopefully you have a very fun Halloween.
