Tropical Ivan Cocktail Recipe
Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer. Today, we’re going to create the Tropical Ivan coincidently submitted by Ivan. It’s a different Ivan. We’re going to do Triple Sec.
Well, actually let’s just reorder this because it’s kind of like the main ingredient here will be really be Tequila. We’ve got one ounce of Tequila, one ounce of Triple sec, a dash of Bitters, and three to four ounces of fruit punch.
We haven’t actually get a lot of recipes of fruit punch, so it’s kind of neat to see a fruit punch recipe, garnish with orange slice, Maraschino cheery either way it’s seem like a good thing to do. I don’t know if I made that up or if it was part of the recipe, but I’m going to put it with a little—help me out here umbrella. I can do it myself.
So, we’re going to garnish it with the umbrella because it’s neat. If you have an umbrella in a Tropical Ivan, you’ll go flying. So, we’re going to shake it, we’re going to put it in a Collins’s glass. Let’s do it.
Let’s see we’ll start with the one ounce of Tequila. We’re going to use this week a silver Plata Tres Generaciones. It’s a definitely good tequila, check it out and the best thing about the Trace Generosity Os is it’s available widely.
It’s a Salsa derivative or Salsa brand I think. You want to call it as —one of the children I believe of Salsa we’re all three actually sorry three trace Generosity and there’s three generations of Salsa I have to come up with this recipe.
And since this is widely available at least in United States, I’m sorry for those who are in Europe that are like. “Dude, I can't get that.” I can’t help you. I wish I could help you. If there’s one thing we could do after world peace is getting a 100% Agave Tequila to the entire world, Europe, Asia everywhere that is what we need.
Don’t roll your eyes at me. I just feel so bad because people don’t have that. We’ll do, I’d say I can probably put this in the last but you know let’s all throw a three ounces in there now. That should be two, three, so three to four ounces we’re going to go with three strengthened up the drink a little bit, and a dash of Bitters. There as a dash of three. I like bitters. They taste awesome. Ice it up, here we go we’ll shake this drink shake it up.
There we go, she is ready. There we go bum pour that in there, so if you do one ounce more of the fruit punch which you probably going to get is a drink, it’s red. This is a little peachier orangey tropical ness I like it, and I chose to go with the orange yeah orange a yellow flag because I thought it would compliment the drink by kind of standing out on its own which I think it does pretty good, there you go.
It is almost tiki. This could be mistaken for a tiki drink, there you go that would be the Tropical Ivan unfortunately, the garnish could get in your way, so I’m just kind of like let it float out there for a little bit. Just smelling it, it give me the Tequila type flavors definitely it gives off that tequila aroma the Agave in there’s the sugary sea salt whatever. Whatever you imagine Tequila that’s good to smell like you’re getting that, but in the flavors you’re getting much fruitier Sprite that’s probably the Triple Sec, so you’re kind of getting a lemon lime-ish fruit punch with a little taste, a little kind of like a structure of the Tequila of course that’s probably going to depend on Tequila.
If you find the Tequila you really love like really poking Tequila like this. It is like the 1800 proof different effects, so take the Tequila you like the best. If you’re a Tequila liker, lover or just want to drink some Tequila put it in here and see how that changes your drink maybe make two, one with a normal Tequila and one with you really like and see if what you like really makes a big difference.
I think it you just drink it well, so there you go that’s your Tropical Ivan. Check us on everydaydrinkers.tv or go to Facebook.com/Cocktailtv. I’m your host Derrick Schommer we’re teaching you how to drink.
