Tropical Traffic Light Cocktail Recipe
Derrick: Welcome to Sunday Nights Shooters. I am your host Derrick Schommer and today we are going to create the Tropical Traffic Light. This recipe comes to us from Dennis.
Female: That is a silly name.
Derrick: Dennis. You didn’t mean Dennis did you? You are going to travel and you are traveling. Because we’ve done Traffic Light you can search it on everydaydrinkers.tv. We probably have ranked high in Google or our drinks mixer probably. And did this recipe is different because it is still red, yellow and green but they use tropical flavors I suppose whatever the heck we had in the last one, which I think is grenadine something green.
Female: Probably still Midori.
Derrick: Maybe Midori and something yellow which I think was Gallion. I don’t remember. I think it was Galliano and something else you can just Google it.
Female: But that should be a Midori, what are the green?
Derrick: It could be absence but I don’t think it was.
Female: I don’t think do, I think you probably don’t want to have.
Derrick: It could be lime juice but I knew normally that is not green enough to really show it up. I just chill my drink.
Female: Chilling your attitude.
Derrick: So, what I am going to do is layer Midori, banana and cranberry. But the Midori I am putting it in first but the banana is going to sneak under it, it is kind of a neat technique. Not that I invented it but it’s just need to see, not just see it but—we’re going to do half ounce of everything.
Female: Not that I really even doing the show.
Derrick: What I should do in this, this is all made up as virtual. You can do half ounce, do whatever you think would fit in your glass. If you are going to make this French, just plan ahead. If you have a specific size, get the measurements that workout good before you show it off that way. You don’t like, “Sorry, I screwed it up”, like we’ll probably do.
Female: “Sorry you have a traffic light that is green and yellow.”
Derrick: Dirty, it was sticky I don’t know why.
Female: Because it was dirty?
Derrick: Yes. I am going to use different glasses for each of these because I love to waste the layer.
Female: It is not Earth Day anymore.
Derrick: I am more worried that they are going to be contaminated which is going to cause them to blend a little differently. Now, I don’t know if that is actually ever going to be a problem for most people but you know what, it is always better to be safe than stupid. And if you can drip this in at a nice slow rate you’re probably going to get less separation. This layer will blend a little bit. What are you drinking over there?
There we go, did that work?
Female: I don’t remember the name.
Derrick: You don’t remember what you are drinking. You are drinking a Blueberry Asahi.
Female: Worried about what I am drinking.
Derrick: Just smell it first just like when you put on clothes, if they don’t smell like they didn’t wear and you can wear them again.
Female: If it is that dirty, you picked it up and smelled it.
Derrick: It works. Why is this sinking so far?
Female: Because it’s not pouring very slowly?
Derrick: No, I think the spoon was too deep into the liquid.
Female: And now you messed it all up.
Derrick: There is some potential. If there isn’t a potential for screw up then the show isn’t any good. Alright, that will probably damage my taste buds but that is okay.
Now, just tell me if you could see those three colors, yellow on the bottom, blend in the green into a blend into red. It doesn’t look all the red and green as a good get separation, the other ones must not have right density to really layer a perfectly in top of each other. So, this is a little intermingling but to the point where actually looks kind of cool. I like the way yellow and the greens always blend together because it’s almost like a rainbow. I is like something you see in like.
Female: My remote is kind of dying so I apologize for the zoom out because it is really choppy.
Derrick: Is it?
Female: Yes.
Derrick: You need to get a new battery.
Female: I know.
Derrick: Why don’t you just lock up here and do it? Did you fix it? Is it all good? As everybody is not throwing up, some people who have seen my foot VHD videos, I am sure some of those can get pretty bad.
So, let’s give this a try. I have never had this. You said you won’t taste any cranberry right?
Female: I didn’t. It was strange eventhough that is a first thing in your mouth.
Derrick: It tastes like a new kiss, you think with the two chicken patties and the bacon and cheese.
Female: Yeah right. That is not what actually going to happen, that’s what it tastes like.
Derrick: Yes, it tastes like pog pork. No, banana a little bit, some dry, I get the cranberry juice, the dry cranberry juice near the end. Melon sweetness but not as much melon not as thick like it is crazy amount of melon.
Female: You get a different taste than I did, I got banana and all melon.
Derrick: Really. I am not getting. I am getting a lot of hint like melon, almost melon after taste. But Midori could be pretty sweet. And I found this is not, I think the cranberry juice kind of tampers it down to something. That is a little easier to handle. It is flavory. At first, my first initial impression was medicine. It tastes like that like a cherry medicine. You are shaking your head, no, it does. Okay. Maybe for some people I think it’s going to have a medicine taste. For others it is going to have?
Female: Banana and melon.
Derrick: Banana and melon. Either way, it looks cool, it is flavory, it is not going to be one of those. It is like one of those, you know you have some of those shots. Because I can do that, it is my job. I have some layered drinks so that they’re layered just because they happen to layer. You know red and green and they said they are layered all good but the taste don’t combine well. This is not that way because of the name, the tropical thing it’s got going on, very banana, melon, cranberries, not really tropical. Overall though, pretty tasty.
Female: It is kind of New England.
Derrick: It is New England tropics. We get greenhouse gasses up here.
Female: I smell something in the air.
Derrick: I meant to say like forest, it’s all the aerosol cans, I don’t know what I was going to say. I think I wanted to say forest, what do they call those things out there in Amazon, like a forest, the green forest I don’t know.
Female: I don’t know what are you’re talking about, sorry.
Derrick: Never mind, I am your host Derrick Schommer for EverydayDrinkers.TV.
