Daddy Brad: Welcome back to Lounge. I am Daddy Brad and I have joined today by that fantastic musical duo, Erza and Keith better known as Trout Fishing in America. Back in the 1970s, their musical past crossed and they have been entertaining for years ever since.
[Music Playing 0:17 - 0:43]
Daddy Brad: One of the big things is to get kids introduce to music early. You kind of started that in the classroom, talk a little bit about how did you about that?
Ezra Idlet: We started talking to kids and saying, how we wrote songs and instead of just how we do it, we showed them. We said, you got to start with an idea. You take on idea, you start building on it. What do you think could be a good idea to write a song about? I asked the kids that, then they come up with these ideas and we start picking up.
[Music Playing 1:08 - 1:18]
Keith Grimwood: Another thing is, when you tell a kid that you are going to do an idea you take their ideas, it is promise. If they come up with an idea, you got to take that idea and --
Ezra Idlet: But you modify it sometimes. I said, what are you going to write about, and I said, how about buggers. You know buggers are good, they are good, but anything else could be in there. How about an alien in my nose? I am like, now you are talking.
Daddy Brad: There you go.
Ezra Idlet: So we have a song called Alien in My Nose.
Daddy Brad: That kid get royalties?
Ezra Idlet: Well, not exactly, but what we do is we send the equivalent of royalties back to the organization that brought us in, which allows them to bring somebody else in which gives more kids, more opportunity to listen.
Keith Grimwood: I figure I can find in for anything, it is just where there really was a big threat, so anything we can do to make that good work and grow is what we do.
Daddy Brad: And the kids are just absolutely energized to --.
Ezra Idlet: Kids believe they can do anything. You can tell them, they can write a song, believe me, they can write a song.
[Music Playing 2:25 - 2:37]
Keith Grimwood: I think it depends on awful lot on the kids. Some kids learn by ear, that was me. Some kids learn by reading music that was him.
Ezra Idlet: I have a degree in music, he can't read music. We both have the same job. There is a lot of ways to get here.
[Music Playing 2:49 - 3:23]
