Hello everyone! Crazy Fish Farmer here. I just wanted to share a project with you that I am thinking about doing. I have been doing a lot of research in electric vehicles and wind turbines and just pre-energy, solar power but I want to cross a vehicle with electric power with the generator on board to regenerate some power for the batteries and all that good stuff. Just like I talked about in my last video that electric car that was out there I have shown you. But I have been checking around for different vehicle to use and I haven't found anything that I am really excited about trying to use yet, but this old truck -- I have got a 1966 Chevrolet truck, it doesn't have a bed on it. It's in a pretty good shape. The cab is in a good shape, and I started doing the map on everything and without the bed and without the heavy front-end on it, the whole front clip which weighs probably a ton in itself. I can get this old truck down to about 2,000 pounds. I guess they call it the curb weight, about 2000 pounds curb weight. If I am using the proper terminology on it, but what I was thinking about doing - an Indian chief out there, I can't remember the rest of his name on YouTube. He does a lot of fabrication on different vehicles out of fiber glass, what I was planning on doing is actually building a fiberglass front end for this and a fiberglass truck bed and then get all electric, the motor and build an adapter for the transmission and all that, because this has got a three speed in it. It's kind of perfect and ultimately just try to make it light as possible.
Now I have been playing with the idea of instead of tying it into the transmission, just using it, back here on the rear end some how, I am not quite sure about all that, I will do a little bit more research on it, but ultimately just turn this into an electric classic EV truck, I mean it's already stripped down to where it's at right now, I did some work to the frame little bit, just put some - cleaned it up and put some flat black on it and just cleaned it up, all that good stuff but ultimately take the motor back out of it. I hate to see the motor go, but it's a gas guzzler, it's little 327 mild cam Holley Carburetor and Holley Intake and all that good stuff on it. It runs really good, but I just think it would be really neat project to turn it into an electric vehicle and it will be classic high tech electric vehicle.
If I am going to do something, I just -- well if I am going to rebuild this whole truck, I just think that would be a neat way to do it. Bring it into -- I don't know future. It's a really neat old truck and I don't want to see it go waste. The front-end needs a lot of work on it, it's all rotted out, thunders and the hood and all of that. I think it could be kind of neat to build a fiberglass front end or a front clip, and that would keep my weight down and then do the same thing for the back.
After I build the battery system in it, however, whatever batteries I put on the back here, and then build a fiberglass bed around the battery system. Not quite sure -- like I said, I have got a lot more research to do on all of that stuff. I am familiar with fiberglass, I have done a little bit of it, but with all the help that we have got out there on YouTube, all the different people, all the different skills and all that good stuff, I don't see a reason why, this wouldn't be a good project.
So anyhow, write your comments, and kind of handle it -- maybe vote on it. If you guys like to see me do this, I will share every step, step by step everything that I am doing with it. Money is kind of tight right now, but it will come, but things are starting to get a little bit better out there and I think things have come together to where it will work out fine. But leave a vote, just vote and if I see the votes just up on that means it's kind of a go and what we'll do is we'll start getting the motor out and all that good stuff and turn it into an electric vehicle.
I think it will be a lot of fun and then maybe even customize the bed a little bit, make it kind of stylish, don't know, I don't know where it's going to go, style that kind of thing and then the front-end. I have been collecting motors out of treadmills, I put and ad a paper for treadmills, broken or used or whatever and I collected probably four of them so far, and I was going to experiment with those motors and maybe incorporate that into the design of this front-end. Maybe take some air intake, run it down to some kind of scroll cage or something to produce the energy on top of the generator that I am going to put in it.
I don't know just some ideas, I have got a lot of things running around in my head. Like I said, feel free to leave a comment, vote on it, help me out, because I have got a lot of projects around here, I can work on but I think this would be something kind of neat, and kind of fun and it will turn out pretty nice.
So that's it for now, and we'll see you next month. Take care, bye!
