Twitter Lesson - Tweets, Retweets and Reply
Hey guys, this is Matt from KA Social Media back one more time. This is video number four of my first day on twitter and hoping to make this little final video so I’m going to rush here a little bit. As you can see, everything over here as I just noticed— everything will walk you through what design and like I said, twitter just had a great job in making it simple for the user.
So the next thing I want you to click on is up here at your home. So this is where you’re going to be at. This is what’s going to—kind of be your main place where you’re going to be at. So these are things, these are people that you’ve followed so Jack was like the CEO of twitter, so we’re following what he’s doing here. Right now, he’s actually in Russia which I’m kind of jealous but he was able to do that.
So, these are the kind of things you’ll be able to see. Kevin Rose is kind of crazy be standing, yfrog is the picture you can look at. You could just see what people are doing. And some people like you could say, what’s up and what people are doing and things like that. So just a little bit about it is a following. Right now, if you click on that you’re following five different people. In the screen, if you come over here and you click on this, you can either mention them, you can un-follow them, you can block or you can report them for spam.
Over here, you have zero followers so that mean no one is following you but no problem since it’s your first day so no worries about that. And then listed, this is something that they just added on, I’m not going to be able to get in the list but if you’re interested you can search on that. But what we’re going to do is we’re going to back to home. So people are always tossing around their tweet. What is a tweet?
Basically, whatever you want it to be. What’s happening is it’s just a question that you’re answering. What’s going on right now? What I’m going to say is I’m going to say sitting here making my first day on twitter videos and then I’m going to hit update. So what did you just do? You just accomplished your first tweet. So you can make whatever you want, you put sitting here making my first day. You could put whatever you want. Going to pick up the kids, you could do that. If you want to say, twitter is great and I really love it. That’s what you can say.
Now, if you saw over here, there’s this number up here, this 140 number. Basically, you’re limited in the number of characters you can have. So character are everything from words, we’re having it from letters to symbols to spaces to numbers anything that you do those are characters and you are limited to a 140 characters on twitter. It’s kind of cool how they do that, it’s just the limit so you’re not just going crazy on things.
Now, some people you might say, hey, what is“@reply”? Basically, what that is, as you put your at symbol before somebody’s name. So I’m going to put it for KA Social Media which is our normal Twitter account and that’s a reply to KA Social Media. So what you do in here is you’re actually speaking at them, you’re saying, if this is Susan, my fiancé, she could say, @KA she will actually know that’s me. @kasocialmedia, what are you doing tonight for dinner? And you hit reply.
So what happens then is as on KA social media, I get an @reply from Susan that says, hey, what are you doing for dinner tonight and I can return back to her and say @kasusanbill, I’m eating dinner with you and then you can hit reply. So kind of going both ways back and forth over here on the right underneath here you see this thing says @replies. So what you want to do is once you come on twitter, you won’t see who spoke to you but if you come under there, you could say, oh wait a second, @kasusanbill wrote to me @kasusanbill, hey, I’m eating dinner with you so that’s cool.
And then the next thing you could do going back to the home page, another thing that people kind of get confuse on. What are direct messages? Basically, direct messages or things that you can send direct message to @kasusanbill, let’s grab dinner tonight. Now, DM, people will not be able to see that at all. So what’s cool about that is that for that you can come over here, you can go to direct messages, oh look, I’ve got a direct message from kasusanbill, let’s grab dinner tonight.
And then you can also send a direct message back, say, sounds great, send. So I know I was a little click on this and I know that it maybe a little confusing about what it is. So I’m going to spend another video kind of just revealing about the rest of it in twitter. But that’s basically it and I think I’m going to do that and I think I'm going to spend this video kind of reviewing what twitter is about and just kind of give you a little brief overview because it’s quick to get done in 5 minutes.
