U2 With Or Without You Guitar Lesson
With or Without You, of course U2, the Joshua Tree. This song is a very, very common chord progression. It goes back all the way, a couple hundred years at taco bell and we’re pretty close. And of course lots of other songs but has this hypnotic pounding bass that just makes it. On one hand it’s very simple because a lot of songs go like this. I have this exact same chord progression but down with different rhythm or different strumming patterns and things like that.
But it’s the melody and the background and the whole atmosphere that's created with the song that just makes it stunningly beautiful. It’s pretty easy to play just the guitar part too it or just the rhythm part. If you want to just hit these power chords, D, A, Bm, and G. Of course the Bm, you could play them as power chords or major or minor chords meaning at the D, G and A would all me major and the B would be minor. So you can play the whole thing just using the chords, D to A to Bm to G and then sing the song. And all you need is a phenomenal voice like you know who that would not me.
And it’s a great song to sing but it also can make a pretty cool guitar instrumental. And this is again, what I like to do with songs is create a solo guitar version of them and I just start messing with this one a little bit to see how it work. And it looks like it would work great, so especially we’ve been able to keep the steady bass going and then pick out the melody.
