So here guys I want to do a quick lesson on what a phrase is. All right, let us say we have other piece of music here, 3-4-5 treble clef. Now let us take this piece of music and let us do one measure. Here is one measure and let us do this, eight note here, two chord of notes, that is two 16th note. It is a 16th note run here. I have this together, I have a slur and I will go eight notes here, I will go a whole note here which running a whole note. Now lets us get two chords at a time and I will go three eight note on top here.
All right, so here is our piece of music. If you want to play it, everything as a whole, there is a piece of music but now you can not just play it straight through. You will have to have what we call phrases in music. And what phrases do is that they literally break up the piece of music, so that it is more musical. And you stay with that, when you have the stand that is —you will have periods or commas, or dashes or hyphens or whatever, in order to tell you where you pause for that phrase before you continue on the second phrase or the second part of that stands. Music is no different. Let us say this piece of music up here and then put some phrase markings in there. So let us say that we wanted this to be a phrase right here. Now, if I were to write this piece of music for someone I would not tie to it it. By the way, never tie to the top of the note. If you are going to tie or to top of a bar, if you are going to tie, at least to the decency of flipping that stands the other way so that the musicians can read properly like that. That is really funky even though you see your guide in the piece of music.
Now I have to see music where it flips the other way around which is fine but I always think that it really gets confusing. So now we have here is my phrase, this is my phrase marking. And as you have known from last week, this is your slur. All these notes are slurred so this completes one phrase, all right. And then, it is like pretty much saying like these little two of piece if you want to get very analytical with it. It is broken up in three phrases where here is the first phrase, here is the second phrase and here is the third one. Because there is your phrase marking or I can phrase markings with things like this and I have seen literally whole entire measures go and that is your phrase marking. I have seen these. I mean two got a tie. And this is not rare. This stand, when you play this, you want to continue this flow, want to continue this phrase whether you are playing violin or guitar or piano or anything.
So now let us take this and do an actual shot of all these things. Put my gear on guys and actually I am recording this right now. Let us take this piece of music and create a phrase for it. Here is a piece right here, let us hear how it this sounds. Did you hear that how that was kind of broken up? But let us say that I want to continue this as one complete phrase. But I promise that it is mini, say you are now are ready that can be hear the difference. Let us give this a shot. So now I put a phrase there and stand to play every play as one.
