Jay: Hi! My name is Jay from San Diego. I was wondering when women have mustaches, is that from excess male hormones? Holly Thacker: In general, when women have facial hair, it may not necessarily be that they have extra testosterone. It might just be that their skin is more sensitive to the effects of testosterone or that relatively speaking, they have a little more testosterone than the estrogen if they have lost their estrogen production. In some women though, it can indicate hormonal excess and women should be evaluated by their doctor.
