Using System Restore in Windows XP or Vista

I got a quick tip for you on brining your computer back to life. Lots of times there's errors happening, you don’t know what's going on. Well, there's a feature in Windows XP and Windows Vista called System Restore and it’s kind of like a time machine. You can actually pick a point back in time when you know the computer is working and it will actually rewind everything to that particular point and it’s really simple to use.

Simply go to the start menu and then go to the all programs, select the accessories folder and then go down to System tools and right in that folder is the System restore, click on it and up it pops. I can use a recommended restore or I can down to choose a different restore point. And once I do that, I hit the next button. And from here I can actually choose one of these dates and times that I know that the machine was working before. Once I do that, I click on it and hit next and it will automatically start going through to bring the computer back to that particular point in time when it was working.

The nice thing is you don’t have to worry about your documents, things like spreadsheets or documents, pictures or music being deleted along the way. It won’t touch those. It will just rewind all the program settings. Again, it’s called System Restore available Windows XP and Windows Vista and it’s a great way to bring your computer back to life kind of like using a time machine.
