Using Video Cameras to-stream Product-review
Jason: Hi, there. Welcome to the McInTec show once again. I am Jason and today we have a Akafurious and CB14 for using a live show except for CB who’s been away a bit but he is on the show now and today what we’re going to talk about is being able to use your DV cam as a webcam to be able to do the things that your DV cam will serve your webcam. Now just DV cam but in general cameras I know that I use a DV cam and sometimes —
CB14: Camcorders, cameras, handycams.
Jason: Cameras yeah and what you can actually do is instead of having a webcam is you can actually get a driver for Windows to allow you to use any other source. Let’s say if you have a TV card or a TV tuner to be able to use that as your source of camera and plug basically anything whether it’s component or composite S-video whatever you have on it and understand that CB is just basically you got his old, I think it is vintage camera out and he ended up getting.
CB14: The vintage Sony handycam.
Jason: And end up getting a TV capture card and he’s using that right now in the streams so he’s going to tell you a little bit about his camera there.
CB14: Well, basically it’s nothing special. It’s definitely not special camera. There is nothing special about the camera. It’s Sony Handycam and that’s your model. It’s definitely really over. It’s about 1999 and 1998 and it has no digital interfaces, it’s got composite out and audio out. It’s a mono microphone Sony stereo.
The feature I do like about most of the Sony cameras anyways you need Sony can be it today it has a built in infrared systems. So you know if you’re really in a dark place and whenever you turn it on and this is one total pitch one dark which I was showing to Jason and a few days earlier. I turn the lights off and turn the infrared systems on it and I was acclaimed to Jason and the infrared light was working and whatever and how like if the shadows it’s like you can't believe it’s infrared. It looks like there was a light on. I show them on the thing that it wasn’t alike it was completely pitch dark in here and you don’t really care about over there. I could see the camera. They are too little bit of red circles on the front and I can faintly see that’s basically the infrared lights in it.
A very powerful unlike the one’s in your remote control which are very weak because it is just for sure it’s transmission scene on TV back and forth to the remote and it is yet it’s got two high powered infrared on and things and the front of it. It doesn’t have a light. No LED’s or something like that. It’s zero lax, it’s complete darkness up to 15 feet.
And like I was saying there is a no digital interface so the reason I’m just using is the day and I haven’t streaming quite this at all because I just got this TV capture card of the eBay. It was about $25.00. I just bought it on eBay. It came today. I was looking at the tracking to get more it just set and said it was in California but I got today and put it out, I was excited and try it with TV and it worked great.
The problem I think that was something with the card and I don’t think I’m going to send it back and I’m going to do, the audio something’s wrong with the audio I guess, something’s broken on the card so the audio is an ideal. I guess there’s interference or something that the audio is not very good but anyway I’m just using my desktop right like here and I guess it looks that’s pretty and out after Christmas this is not my camera since — oh it’s Sony then after Christmas I’ll be getting DV cam so I’ll just be true on that. Some has emailed TV turner —.
Jason: Well thanks for sharing that with us CB, yeah I can’t —
CB14: I only talk about something and this one turns off every now and because it’s not necessarily maybe streaming but you know.
Akafurios: I want to talk you about something too.
Jason: Okay, go ahead.
Akafurios: All right so this is older than me I think I don’t know. This is another Sony cam as you can se it’s high 8, so it’s an 8 millimeter there.
CB14: My mom was ringing a second ago and I put it on hold.
Jason: Well, sometimes that has happened and is anything someone to say furious?
Akafurious: Yeah this is 8 millimeter and it’s still charging and my phone is ringing and well, this has whatever CB’s has this and I have another that sounds true that somebody does digital and I’m getting a $1000.00 camera so. Yeah so practically, this is another type of camera you could get and you could get it so might that you could get HD, you could get DV, mini DV, hard drive and the list goes on.
Jason: Okay, so there you have it guys. If you really want to spend, if you want to have that extra clause especially when you’re on your UStream.tv and stuff you can do free broadcasting, go ahead. Buy that camera because I know in the fact that —
Akafurious: Ustream.TV free broadcast.
Jason: Yap with Windows Vista you actually be using webcam Max just to program where what we’re doing in the capture screens which is seeing furious sense CB14. It actually has a driver called Microsoft DV so if you have a DV cam and plug it in and every operating system recognizes a DV cam that’s the way it is. So I bought mine which is here. It’s actually a Samsung card and that’s a digital one. I got it off for 100 bucks off eBay. It’s nothing fancy or anything.
Akafurious: eBays got great deals.
Jason: Yes they do, it actually does though it is a DV cam so it takes a little tape and once I can get it out here. It takes a little tape which is all digital. This one has a left and right as you could see left and right in here and it’s got a really, really good zip on it. I don’t know the model on it exactly but it’s pretty good for the price I got it and it’s good to shoot things. It’s got the screen. It’s got some fade effects and stuff and it actually doesn’t have infrared or anything like CB’s or Akafurious says but I really enjoy it and I use it sometimes to stream and stuff and it’s got your DV rate built in it there and everything or I can use the component or composite. I have an adopter to go for the component in S-video.
