Bonnie Plants, going greener for you.
Allen Smith: I love the garden and grow lots of things. But I have to say, one of the things that really gets me excited is teaching children how to get excited about gardening. You see all these gorgeous shard that I have been harvesting for weeks now? Well, I actually had a group of very enthusiastic school children helped me get this planted. You know what are we going to do with these pots?
Children: Recycled.
Allen Smith: We are going to recycle them because we are going to burry them. And these pots will decompose in the soil so we do not have any black plastic pots to throw away. Is not that cool? Now, I want you to dig a hole. Dig a hole. Dig a hole like a golfer. Okay, now, I want you to put your plant in the soil, perfect, perfect, great. Now, put the soil around it. You guys did great and you know what else is great about this besides teaching them how to grow something? They see peat pots and realize well, this is an alternative to plastic pots that are going to end up in the land fill. So, we are teaching responsibility, sustainability and how to save the planet and the kids love that.
From the Garden, I am Allen Smith.
