I think it's great that you are thinking about things like sexually transmitted diseases, both for your protection and the protection of your partner. Vasectomy is a very effective and very safe form of contraception, which is to say of preventing pregnancies. About 11% of men in this country will undergo a vasectomy at some point in their life. On the other hand, a vasectomy doesn't do anything to protect you from contracting a sexually transmitted disease or from transferring a sexually transmitted disease to someone else.
