This is a simple sagalou it’s an Indian type cuisine which is a vegetarian dish. Very simple. The
ingredients we have for this sagalou is basically potatoes and spinach. I'm going to add some
garlic and some onion which we thinly sliced the onion and the garlic is fine diced. What I have
here some good olive oil here. You can use some vegetable oil.
So use about quarter of a cup. I'm going to add, so go ahead and add your onions and your garlic
here. I want to appreciate John with WNA, they help us out on the plates like that.
For this type of dish, it’s going to take about 20-25 minutes, so you want to be gone and
caramelize your onions. This is going to take about 5-10 minutes time for your onions and all
that to caramelize.
So after a while that’s going here, I'm going to talk to you about this potato here where you want
to slice it. You peel them like that. Cut them in quarters just like that. That's how I have them.
Get this out of the way.
And one quick note about cancer, and vegetarian dishes are very healthy for you nowadays. Not
just Pepsi, any type of 12 ounce can has a pop top, go ahead and pull this off, start saving them.
There’s going to be churches or your local organization, maybe your elementary schools are
saving these. And this is for the cancer people, so if you want to recycle, pull this off, these pop
tops and start saving this and donate them to your church or your schools or whoever collects
these. I've heard they're giving you a dollar per this pop tops. So start saving that as well and
helping out that community and helping out the environment as well. So I appreciate that for that
little point here.
While this is going, and like I said, this is going to take about 5 minutes to caramelize. Your
onions and the garlic Smells really good. I'm going to add the potatoes like so. That’s going to
take another 5-10 minutes like so. And you get that going, and like I said, this is about a 20-25
minute meal. I'm just going to quickly show you the ingredients and the preparation, how to do
this.
I washed my spinach, I'm using about 16 ounces of spinach here. And when this is already
brown, you add your spinach like so. Really, you think this is a lot of spinach, it will cook down
folks.
So you have it like this, let's get this out of the way. Now what you do here, you can add a little
salt if you want or some curry spices or some turmeric. I tend not to over season my stuff. And
this one it looks like, you want to cover it after it gets going like so. Go ahead and cover it, and
that's going to reduced, it's going to take another 10 more minutes. This is going to, it looks like
just like this. Same thing what we just did here.
Go ahead and get out your rice. You can do it over a rice. You want to pull out a little bit of rice.
You can put the rice on the side, like so. Then you pull out your sagalou, just like so. Let's just
try this out. Very tasty, very healthy, very good.
