Michael: When we designed the country retreat, one thing we didn’t have to worry about was where to run the vents for the fire places. That’s because all the fire places in this home are vent free systems provided by Vanguard Heating Products. Jason Perry is a Vanguards Director of Marketing.
Jason when you talked to people about vent free fireplaces I know the very first question is where is the smoke go? Because there is no vent, there is no flu, no chimney. What happens to it?
Jason Perry: Well, the beauty of a vent free gas fireplaces that it burns, the fill so efficiently at 99% efficiency that you don’t need to flu.
Michael: No smoke?
JasonPerry: No smoke.
Michael: Yeah.
Jason Perry: Exactly.
Michael: Well since you don’t have a flu I take it that most your heat is going up out of the fireplace out in the outside so you actually trapped the heat inside the house?
Jason Perry: That’s right. One of the things about vent free gas fireplaces as suppose to regular fireplaces is that they do generate more heat, more efficiently and send that heat into the room.
Michael: That’s where its supposed to be. And it got a remote control so easy to turn on? That is taller in wood doesn’t it?
Jason Perry: Exactly.
Michael: Yeah.
Jason Perry: Yeah, vent free gas fireplaces are they’re so convenient. Especially one of the reasons is the since they don’t have a vent, they can go anywhere in the house but also with the remote control you can light the fire from your easy chair.
Michael: That’s great, I’ve seen them built in into cabinets in the kitchen and corners underneath the TV’s and you’ve got one here right behind you. That’s big enough; you could put a big screen TV on this so lot of people has trouble with the room on where’s the TV going and where’s the fireplace go. Here you can stock them on top of each other cant you?
Jason Perry: Well fireplace can always be the kind of the decorative center of attention in a room. The elements of the fireplace, one is the logs, the log set. And the firebox it goes around it and then the decorative mantel as well.
Michael: If you want to get past the firebox, you can really do anything. This could just be in a normal wall put stone around it but anything that you wanted around it.
Jason Perry: Correct. This firebox is still firebox could build into wall just like a regular wood fireplace.
Michael: Anything you want. I like that you’ve put book cases, aquariums or like we talk about TV’s.
Jason Perry: That’s right. Even you’ve watch the TV you want you could watch the fire.
Michael: And one thing is in here talking to you, I notice there is no sound really no sound coming out of it and a lot of people like that traditional with burning sound. I know you’ve got a solution and what is that?
Jason Perry: Well that’s this, your trying to duplicate the look, the experience of a wood fire and we do at visually through the logs and through the glowing ambers but for that sound that crackle of a fire we will have this little item.
Michael: So now you’ve got the perfect sound.
Jason Perry: You’ve got everything.
Michael: Okay. Cannot to set here and read the book by the fireplace but if you’re watching TV and just turn off the sound you still get the heat.
Jason Perry: Certainly.
Michael: Yeah. That’s definitely warm well my legs are heating up just standing and here next to it. Here I noticed you’ve got several different examples of the logs and shows how these works?
Jason Perry: Well the gas logs is the heart of the fireplace and the logs themselves this are made molded from ceramic fiber that really light.
Michael: Very, very light. Okay and they don’t burn up?
Jason Perry: No, they glow as you could see in that set over there. They glow, here is the gas burner which is at the really at the heart of it and an interesting feature of it is a safety shut off pilot. It’s called an Oxygen Depletion Center or an ODS and that is if the oxygen level in the house which is usually around 20% falls down to around 18% this will automatically shut off the gas supply.
Michael: So if you have the home real tight sealed up anything like that and those like with the fire on you go off its going to go off.
Jason Perry: That’s right.
Michael: Okay. So, basically it’s extremely safe, extremely energy efficient and we can put any where we want in our house.
Jason Perry: That’s right, efficient and versatile level.
