Now, what I want to do is weave all of my watermelon plants through. So, as you know, watermelon is a vining crop and because we live in the city, we do not have a lot of space but I still want to grow an amazing watermelon. So, what I have done is put in this vertical support.
Basically all I have do is really just supported in a couple of different places. I like supporting down low and then somewhere in the middle, and then the top really you can start waiving in. What is going to happen is this plants are going to just encircle the wire and they are going to attach themselves to the frame. We would not really have to give too much more support for this.
I am using these, what I call sandwich bag ties here and get them in a roll and you just have little metal thing here that cuts that for you. I like using these because you can pretty much pick your own size. They have pre-cut ties but then you have join more than one together. To get the size that you want, these you cut them to the size that you want.
Yes, some of them as I see where they are growing and have they are growing. I am just either weaving it through and like I said it will attach itself to the vertical support and this one is a little bit longer, so it needs that extra a little bit of support. So, it can continue growing up.
So, I just have this last one that I am going to simply train through the vertical support and pretty much all of my watermelon plants are now supported on here, and it is now up to them to grow, and attached themselves, and looks right there, there is already a little flower. So, pretty soon, I will have some watermelon. I am Patti Moreno the Garden Girl, thanks for watching.
