I can barely remember what does this look like when we first planted it, now with just a little bit of encouragement, and attaching the cucumber plant to my nylon trellis here. Look what has happened, right there, it just curled around, and attached itself, and there is a little cucumber already coming through. What I am doing basically now, is just giving you a little bit of extra support. One thing that I have found is that, as the plant grows, some of it of course will attach. So for example, if you take a look right here, this has attached itself pretty recently, but as you can see, it is also hanging out from the raise beds. So, I want to really bring them up, but you want to try be as gentle as possible. You do not want to break the plant in any place.
If you can help--as you can see I am not doing it very, very tightly, I want to leave some room for the plants to actually grow. Here is one that has decided to make the tomato plant, but trellis. But we do not want that, we want to bring it through. And whenever you will see the tiny little flowers that are where you are going to see fruits and vegetables. And, two different cucumber plants at the end here with a large amount of beautiful flowers. I can even see a few cucumbers growing, so I am going to attach this one to this side and it will eventually attach itself. And I just taking this other side here, attaching it over here, because I did cut around the corner when I planted these cucumber plants. I think that these nylon trellises are really, really good I cannot recommend them anymore.
Basically, it feels like I would be really very frenzy, but because of this metal frame, it really has strengthened it. Because, it is very taut and it is also very strong and it is able to support the fruit and the plants as they grow up. Another really good thing about this is that you can just reach your hand through, without any problems. Some of the other smaller vertical trellises that I use have a small opening. I have small hands, so it is fine. It is not a problem if you have bigger hands, the little more difficult to be able to get your hands through the smaller openings of my vertical trellises. And with this one 6x6, very simple, it is really gratifying, and rewarding just watching nature takes its course and growing your own edible food.
