Victoria Justice Interview
Audra Lowe: She's a 17 year old, she's an A student, she's gorgeous, she also has a brand new show on Nickelodeon. Victoria Justice knew exactly what she wanted since she was 11 years old. So that’s when mom packed up the family and left Florida behind and headed straight for Hollywood. The rest as they say is history. We caught up with Victoria and her mom at a Mother’s Day photo shoot for the May issue of Family Circle Magazine.
Seventeen-year-old Victoria Justice is starring in a new TV show.
Victoria Justice: I have a new show called Victorious on Nickelodeon and it’s kind of the most exciting thing ever.
Audra Lowe: She plays Tori Vega, a 16-year-old starting a new high school, a performing art school.
Victoria Justice: Mainly about trying to figure out yourself and becoming more confident and getting over insecurities so I think it’s really relatable and some of the episodes are based on things that I go.
Audra Lowe: Things she's experienced all her life with mom Serene Justice-Reed who joined Victoria for a Family Circle photo shoot.
Serene Justice-Reed: Really cool.
Victoria Justice: This is the first time—yeah, because she's always like usually like I'm doing the photo shoot and she's fixing my hair and makeup everything all that so—
Serene Justice-Reed: I'm always taking the picture behind the scenes so it’s kind of switch for me to be in the shoot with her.
Victoria Justice: It was funny too about getting ready and she actually takes longer to get rid the bad news so now I can—
Serene Justice-Reed: No, no, know about that.
Audra Lowe: Education is important to this mom as well as keeping her daughter grounded.
Victoria Justice: What’s get me grounded is her grounding me every week. Literally I get—
Serene Justice-Reed: She had a curfew. She doesn’t have a license yet only because in fact she's been so—I know it’s a good thing now.
Victoria Justice: I'm kind of dilemma with that.
Serene Justice-Reed: She’s allowed to start dating when she was 16.
Victoria Justice: I'm lucky though like you're pretty cool mom. But now like a guard to the point where I pretty much I'm on everything.
Audra Lowe: Serene’s not as worried about the pressure being a teen star but what comes after.
Serene Justice-Reed: Everything is judge and your family and friends becomes judge as well so I just try to tell you, you can’t take it personally. Those people don’t know you. Try not to read any comments or anything.
Victoria Justice: Sometimes occasionally I'll look and see what people are saying all lie and stuff and you know sometimes there are negative comments and it will stay at the back of your mind and it will affect you in like you know, “But mom how would they say this all that” I used start feeling kind of bad about it my mom is like, “You know what, this people don’t even know you at all.”
Audra Lowe: Victoria’s best advice from mom.
Serene Justice-Reed: Always choose people the way you want to be.
Victoria Justice: Oh yeah, you always say that.
Audra Lowe: And when it comes to their favorite thing to do together.
Victoria Justice: I guarantee, I know what you're going to say?
Serene Justice-Reed: It’s one or two things.
Victoria Justice: Okay, I'm going to say what am I into.
Serene Justice-Reed: Okay, you go first.
Victoria Justice: Okay, my favorite thing to do with my mom is when we get down with the windy long day of work or something, when we’re driving home we’ll like come up to Walter house and then we’re just keep driving and passing because we listen to music. It’s the 80’s music. It was the Carly Simon like everything in the wine house. We go around for like a half an hour no matter what time it is.
Serene Justice-Reed: Actually we did it Friday night it was an hour.
Victoria Justice: Until like 1:30 in the morning.
Audra Lowe: And the ladies aren’t just listening to their favorite tunes.
Victoria Justice: Oh, we sing.
Serene Justice-Reed: Because we’ll see like people on the street and they probably checking us out like why is that, is that mini band circling like over and over.
